    Publisher's Summary:
"There are four basic reasons why someone commits murder. The first and most powerful is love. The second - equally powerful - is hate. Almost equally compelling is revenge. The fourth is profit. Money. When one family member kills another, one or more of them is almost always the motive, and the murders on Calypso Key were no exception." - Harry Starke
It was one of those beautiful, balmy days on Calypso Key in the US Virgin Islands. The sky was blue and a cool breeze was blowing in off the ocean as Harry and Amanda took their vows. All of their friends were there and all was well with the world...and then the sky fell. Harry draws the line at getting involved when the death of one of his father's friends intrudes upon his wedding day, until he finds out he owes the girl's father a debt he can never repay. And so he is dragged into an investigation of not just one murder, but two - and the wealthiest, most dysfunctional family he's ever met. The cast of characters includes a former Navy Seal - now a butler - a man up to his eyes in shady financial dealings, and the woman at the heart of it all, who was pushed to her death from a third-story balcony. Harry clears a few hours to enjoy the good life on Calypso Key, but as for the investigation...well, we all know that when Harry's involved, nothing is ever quite what it seems.

    Title: Her Nightly Embrace
Subtitle: Ravi PI Series, Book 1
    Author: Adi Tantimedh
    Narrator: Sendhil Ramamurthy
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 30 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-01-16
    Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 11 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
The first in a trilogy of whip-smart novels - currently in development as a TV series set to star Sendhil Ramamurthy (NBC's Heroes and Heroes Reborn) - about a destructive private investigator and his eccentric coworkers, who handle cases so high-profile that they never make the headlines.
Ravi Chandra Singh is the last guy you'd expect to become a private detective. A failed religious scholar, he now works for Golden Sentinels, an upmarket London private investigations agency. His colleagues are a band of gleefully amoral and brilliant screw-ups: Ken and Clive, a pair of brutal ex-cops who are also a gay couple; Mark Chapman, a burned-out stoner hiding a great mind; Marcie Holder, a cheerful former publicist; Benjamin Lee, a techie prankster from South London; David Okri, an ambitious lawyer from a well-connected Nigerian immigrant family; and Olivia Wong, an upper-class Hong Kong financial analyst hiding her true skills as one of the most dangerous hackers in the world - all under the watchful eye of Roger Golden, wheeler-dealer extraordinaire, and his mysterious office manager, Cheryl Hughes.
Thrust into a world where the rich, famous, and powerful hire him to solve their problems and wash their dirty laundry, Ravi finds himself in over his head with increasingly gonzo and complex cases - and the recent visions that he's been having of Hindu gods aren't helping. As Ravi struggles to stay ahead of danger, he wonders if the things he's seeing are a delusion - or if he might, in fact, be an unrecognized shaman of the modern world.

    Fresh, fun, and clever!
I listened to the unabridged audio, and Sendhil Ramaurthy's performance is excellent. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series and the television series. Ravi is an unconventional P.I., one who questions the morality of his involvement in disturbing the lives of those he encounters. His "family" at the P.I. firm is made up of a number of fascinating characters, such as Ken and Clive, two ex-cops, who happen to also be in a relationship. The stories are fresh and exciting, and the protagonist is endearing. A great deal of fun - sometimes quite funny - and something very different. Funky. Something fun for the open-minded and adventuresome Nerdist, especially those who are more worldly.
    Four Stars
Amusing, unusual, a delicious small starter.
    Five Stars
Incredible book and a must read.
    Unique and Stylish Thriller
    Hardcover (edit)
Review Her Nightly Embrace by Adi Tantimedh is a 2016 Atria/ Leopaldo &Co. Publication.
I had no idea what to expect from this book, but the publishers were so enthusiastic about it and their plans for audio and television projects featuring âHeroesâ star Sendhil Ramamurthy, I couldnât resist taking a look at it.
When Ravi Chandra Singh gave up his religious studies after his reputation was impugned, he is hired by Golden Sentinels, a detective agency located in London. While Ravi may not seem like detective material, heâs a quick study. However, he does have a few, shall we say, abnormalities. Every time Ravi is stressed out, he sees a variety of Hindu Gods, and they seem to be tweeting about him.

    Publisher's Summary:
When the papal apartments are burgled in 1901, Sherlock Holmes is summoned to Rome by Pope Leo XII. After learning from the pontiff that several priceless cameos that could prove compromising to the church, and perhaps determine the future of the newly unified Italy, have been stolen, Holmes is asked to recover them.
In a parallel story, Michelangelo, the toast of Rome in 1501 after the unveiling of his Pieta, is commissioned by Pope Alexander VI, the last of the Borgia pontiffs, with creating the cameos that will bedevil Holmes and the papacy four centuries later.
For fans of Conan Doyle's immortal detective, the game is always afoot. However, the great detective has never encountered an adversary quite like the one with whom he crosses swords in The Vatican Cameos.

    Wow! Sherlock returns!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely! I've read a lot of Sherlock Holmes and this book was true to Arthur Conan Doyle's style. The story was interesting in that it told two related stories alternating between them with each new chapter. Either story could stand on its own to keep you guessing their outcome. Together they made a robust and complex Sherlock Holmes mystery. The only thing that exceeded the quality of the story was the superiority of the narration. In all the audio books I've listened to, no narration was even close to the variety of voices, use of sound effects and overall production quality. This is truly the best audio book I've downloaded, and there have been many amazing ones I've downloaded..
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Vatican Cameos?
Every time another character would show up and add to the complex obstacle course the artist had to traverse.
    Which scene was your favorite?
    When Michelangelo attended the ball.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes.
    Any additional comments?
I would just say if you enjoy the creative mind of Sherlock Holmes you'll certainly enjoy this audio book.
    Excellent entertainment
Honored to be the first to review! Magnificently written. Beautifully narrated.
    Must add for your library!
    ok story, weird/akward performance choices
Story's not bad, though bifurcated narrative feels odd for a Sherlock Holmes story.
Weirdest Holmes voice I've ever heard. Sounds bizarrely low and menacing. Personally I really disliked it.
    Excellent tale of "what if"
I Loved this story! Highly recommend it! The author does well with fictional History! Bravo!
    Sherlock as Winston
If you can get over Nigel channeling Churchill and the over exaggerated Italian accents, you will enjoy a fairly interesting Holmesian panache.

    We enjoy reading local/NewEngalnd authors
We enjoy reading local/NewEngalnd authors, especially mysteries, and Mr. Dubois certainly fits that bill very nicely. They are a fun read, plus the location are familiar. It's a very nice read and I would recommend it.
    Fire the Proofer
Am just getting into the Lewis Cole series. After starting at book one with a hard copy, for books two and three I resorted to the electronic version via my Kindle. In all of my years of reading, in any venue, I have never seen a work product so riddled with errors of the editing type. There is no single explanation for the types of errors. Gives the impression that someone hard of hearing, lacking any sense of content, and a bad typist, is typing dictated text, then not proof reading or spell checking any of it. This is a total distraction and precludes actually enjoying the books. What is the explanation of this situation.
    Great plot, horrible proofing job
This second book in the series is light years ahead of its predecessor. I almost didn't buy it, but something in the first novel plucked along the edges of my brain whispering, maybe this author improved as he moved along with his writing. And he did! The plot is interesting, the action is involving, and it was good enough to keep reading in spite of some of the worst typos and lack of decent proofing I've ever seen in e-books. Who does the proofing. anyway? I only hope this author didn't pay too much for it. If you can ignore that problem and can figure out what the author's intention was in some of the sentences, this is a good read.
    Proof reader needed.
Perhaps if the book had been proof read before publishing I would not be so critical. Gramer, missing words, spelling...terrible. Good story line but terrible mistakes.
... typos and transcription in the first three are so horrible that it distracts from the story-- I know they ...
The Kindle transcription make the second book almost unreadable- and the typos and transcription in the first three are so horrible
that it distracts from the story-- I know they say that some books are transcribed by volunteers -but third graders ? I know this is not
a review of the book itself and I do enjoy the story and will finish the series and sorry to be picky.

    Entertaining.
I loved this audio book so much. Gemma Halladay publishing only puts out the best! The narrator is so spot on. The book is funny and the narrator is perfect for the job. Many more of Jamie Winters please!
    Great fun, perfect narrator!
Begins with development of the major characters and, basically, setting the stage for the murder. Lots of snarks and sparks. Then comes the sleuthing. And more craziness. This is a great new heroine and the writing is as entrancing as it is funny. Almost wish I was into spoilers, but since I'm not, you'll just have to take my word for it.
I was lucky enough to get this as Whispersync on the cheap.
    suspenseful and funny!
this author and her stories are new to me. I found the narrator extremely funny and perfect for the parts that she played. The story itself was engaging and honestly it had me going all over the place I couldn't figure out who did what. It was suspense, humor, with a great cast of characters. I'm actually looking forward to the next one to see where the relationship goes.

    Bubba and the 12 days
This was a laugh out loud fun book.Michael Gilboe was perfect as the narrator.Bubba Snoddy has relatives that show up for the holidays. Some steal silverware and someone is committing murders that Bubba keeps getting blamed for! Can he figure it out and evict his family?Oh and Jesus Christ is a blast...read it!I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher
    Better than the first
I liked the second book in the Bubba Snoddy series much better than the first. I think the reason for this was twofold. First is this book has much more going on, the bodies keep and the intrigue keeps building. The second is that I listened to this as an audio book which I find much better when authors tries to write as people talk (think what cha doin boy). Hearing the characters in this manner is much better than trying to read it, in my opinion. Like the first book I wish there were more vivid details and descriptions to make the reader feel as if they were there but overall the home spun tale got me in the holiday spirit.
The narrator did a good job with the southern sounds and making Bubba really feel like a good old boy.
    Bubba is back!
Bubba is back in a new adventure/mystery. With the help of his mother Miz Demetrice, Deputy Willodean Gray and his nephew Brownie, Bubba sets out to find a killer striking during the Christmas holiday. Hilarity ensues as Bubba is once again a suspect for a crime he didn't commit. Will Bubba find the killer before he ends up back in jail? Only time will tell.
This is another great story in the Bubba mystery series and Michael Gilboe is delightful as Bubba and the other cast of characters in this book.

    No rest for Judith
Love Love Love this series. Mary Daheim pulls you into the story. You feel as if you are part of the family. Murders seem to find Judith whether
she is running her bed and breakfast or is on a vacation getaway. This story revolves around a wedding party that has booked rooms at the B&B.
The father of the bride believes that Judith is his mother. He even has proof. Hi-jinks abound until someone is found dead. Judith agrees to let the police handle the investigation. However, she can't let it go. In the end, Joe (her retired police detective husband) and Woody (the police chief and homicide detective and Joe's old partner) end up investigating the case with out her, but Judith does it her way and solves the case.
I give this three stars because I so love Daheim and the bed and breakfast characters
I give this three stars because I so love Daheim and the bed and breakfast characters. But the plot of this went flat. Oh, there were the usual twists and red herrings but the final disposition was not exciting. I imagine it is getting hard to come up with orginal ideas for cozies.
Buy this book! You'll definitely enjoy it!
I couldn't wait to read this book and as usual was not at all disappointed in Mary Daheim's Here Comes The Bribe. I read the book in two days!
I always enjoy a visit with Renie, Judith, Joe and Judith's mother. It's like visiting with people you've known for a long time. Ms. Daheim always makes sure to explain in the beginning of the book what's gone on before with the characters so even if it's the first book you've read you won't be lost. The ending seemed a little abrupt to me but it in no way took away from the story. I don't want to say to much and give away any spoilers but let me just say, buy the book and enjoy it!
    Not what it seems
Always look forward to the new bed and breakfast book. This one did not fall short.
    I love these books
I love these books. I have read all of the cousins and have gotten a few friends hooked as well. These are so fun to read I have been known to go back and read the older ones over!

    Hoped for something more
I was disappointed in the story line as well as the narrator.
The story seemed rushed at the end ... trying to wrap everything up. The main female character was not believable in her actions and the narrator did not help this. Even though Quinn was supposed to be going through muliplr
    Not lighthearted or uplifting
Violence, twisted personalities, distrust, abuse, damaged children and adults hurting each other. A few survivors at the end. Not escapist reading.
