I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Turned, and was looking forward to reading more so when I saw this on the review list â well- had to request it :-)

So, it's focussed around Agency member Barrett this time. She's having to work with her ex, a man she's really still in love with, though she won't admit it even to herself. She kind of emotionally stunted as far as love goes, she's scared to admit it, she has a kind of brittle in your face appearance, posh girl whoâs never upset or has problems, and yet she's far more than the face she shows people. I feel she broke things off with Nick as a self protection method. He's fighting his own guilt â he betrayed her on their last mission to keep her safe, but hasn't told her. It led to her leaving the Service and him, and he's still feeling the guilt. They're hot together though, scorching, sizzling, and it doesn't take long before the old attraction between them has them heating the sheets once again.

The search for Jane, her dead friendâs daughter, ties in with the Agency's mission and with Nicks FBI work. They have to be careful though â it's suspected there's a mole in the Agency ( and my schoolgirl humour keeps conjuring up visions of were-moles, as we're talking about paranormal...can you imagine how scary those front paws would be???) but no-one has any clues who it is. I can't help feeling that's going to play a large part in a later book...There's lots of planning, clues to work out, people to trust or distrust, action and danger. Barrett and Nick both learn things from each other their respective agencies either didn't know or weren't telling, and some of it is essential vampire info, where lack of knowledge could lead to death. While working together they also learn things about themselves and each other, that shed light on the past and helps cement their future.

Its another cracking adventure, with just enough drama to keep me on the edge without overdoing it, so that the whole thing becomes unreal.

Boring

This started out good and then just descended into being sappy. There is no major conflict and all problems are resolved before they can create interest. This is a happy story. It's like eating cotton candy. It tastes good but is not filling.

Guilty pleasure

A steamy quick read that goes down like a delicious chocolate soufflé. enjoyed the supernatural aspect ad well. Fun stuff.

Great story of a Surrendering Succubus

Dr. Stephen Wallace is a fertility specialist who helps couples achieve their dreams of having a child, but the one couple heâs never been able to help is his own brother and sister-in-law. Knowing it might be the one chance they have to finally have a baby of their own, Stephen takes a trip to Las Vegas, intent on finding a succubus to help him. Of course, once he finds her, he might decide he doesnât want to let her go, but is she willing to surrender her succubus ways for a chance at a future she never knew she wanted?

This is another short, fast-paced read by Jewel. Very hot in spots, which I loved. She doesnât disappoint.

Given the history between the hero and the brother, she pulls at your heartstrings with the struggle each character has faced because of being unable to conceive. I thought the lengths at which the hero would go to give his brother a chance at what he wanted spoke a lot about his character and devotion.

Geneva, the heroine and unknowing focus of Stephenâs plan, didnât even know what hit her. She was happy in her bubble, meeting men, hooking up, and taking care of her baser needs during the night. The last thing she expected was to wake up magically tied to a Shaman. Sheâs a stubborn woman, and youâve got to appreciate her nerve and ball-breaking attitude. Eventually, though, even with the amount of fight she puts up, she canât help but give into those baser needs of a succubus once again to Stephen. Their banter was cute, the dialogue was great, and the intimate scenes smoked.

While the story ended with a HFN, I felt like the reader missed a lot by it ending where it did. It almost felt like what we seen was just the tip of the story for these two. It certainly makes you want more.

My favorite line from Geneva: âAll they needed was a little pep talk.â In regards to the unwilling sperm, so to speak. Loved it. I laughed so hard.

Pick up Surrender Sweet Succubus and give it a shot if youâre in the mood for something short and hot.

An inspired story of Succubi

Iâve said many times that my view of Succubi isâ different. I believe that they are more, can be more. There are very few stories about Succubi that I can truly say have something in them that has made me cry, wonder, and, perhaps, believe in what seems to be impossible.

This was a new and quite interesting world full of shifters of all types, vampires, and other things that I'm not even sure what they are yet. Kassity is one of the few remaining panthers in North America - she's special, and she's caught up in a war working for Lucius. At first I thought of Lucius as the bad guy, but once we get to know a few of the other characters better I realized he might actually be the good guy - just in a weird twisted way (which I love). His relationship with Kassity, and his other "people" is a strange one and his controlling nature makes it hard to appreciate him at times.

When Jaxon enters and inadvertently threatens Lucius's hold on Kassity and puts her in danger, all hell breaks loose. He finds himself stuck in a place between sides and not quite sure who is telling him the truth. What he is sure of, is that Kassity is his mate, and he proceeds to do everything in his power to make sure she stays safe.

In the background, we have the story of a missing stone. This might seem anti-climactic, but the stone turns out to be something very special - and Kassity's job is to find it. There is a lot going on at times in this story, but it was written in a way that really keeps in engaged and invested in all the characters, not just Kassity and Jaxon. It made me want to know more, especially about the mysterious Teagen.

Now, I had a paper copy of the book on hand since this was my first experience with an audio book. And since this was my first audio - I don't have anything to really compare it to (I think I also giggled through the first sex scene. Hearing it read out loud brought out my inner adolescent..) Because I read the book this way, I did notice just a couple of small little "oops" in the narration - nothing that takes anything away from the story. The narrator did a fantastic job of catching the personalities of the characters in her voice. My biggest fear before going in was that I would lose track of who was talking. Not an issue at all.

Part way through I forgo the paper copy and began listening to the audio book while I walked at lunch. It was a great escape and a good way to enjoy a book when I wasn't able to sit down and read.

Witching the Wolf Skinwalkers trilogy

I'm not a professional blogger or reviewer as I've stated many times before, but Lorraine Kennedy's Skinwalkers trilogy is a heart wrenching read. Starting with Book #1 Bad Moon Rising and then Witching the Wolf Book #2. This is a heart wrenching love story of two people David and Mya. They are from two different worlds and somewhere along the line they collided. Honestly the ending brought tears to my eyes I honestly didn't not think it was going to end they way it did. One saving grace is there is one more book to this trilogy and I'm so hoping there is a reversal. I loved the way this book brought in Mya's mother and her grandfather and even her father. I'm so curious to see how this will all play out in the last book of the trilogy. But my heart wants to see a happy ending for David and Mya. This series is totally a must read. Besure to have a box of tissues.

Great story

Really a great story if you are a glutton for a sad endings. Loved this book and this author is such a great writer. I'm dreading the next one because I am a firm believer a trilogy is three not a third book broken up into parts! That just ticks me off and makes me want to quit reading because it is always about the marketing tricks, money. Oh well, now you know and can make a good decision. I guess I' m off to the next ones to finish this story but in the future I will make sure to read all the reviews before I start reading a so called trilogy. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice.....happy reading.

Get your ears into this one!

I read the audio edition and feel that Valerie Gilbert's performance adds a lot to the physical and emotional atmospheres.

And there is plenty of atmosphere, imagery, and characterization done by the author. It's better if you have read Stained and The Raven's Tale, but that's only a matter of degree. The story reaches out and grabs you to read until finished.

An amazing followup to the first book

The growing relationship between Se and Thorn is enough to make your heart beat faster. While most series featuring the same couple can become boring, this series just keeps upping the ante. I love Thorn's growth as a witch, mastering her powers, fighting evil together with her man. The Irish backdrop was wonderful, and the narrator's ability to do realistic accents really enhanced the listening.

I really love this book. this series is great. I can't wait for the next one. the story is fabulous, I thought the writing was great, and the narration was wonderful. the accents were perfect. she is very talented and it's fun to listen to.

Narrator was distracting

This book would've been better if I read it myself. Too many pauses and odd inflections.

The book itself is a good continuation of the first book but it is more paranormal instead of a mystery. Caleb was a much better for.

I doubt I would recommend this story to anyone.

Let me state, that its a little confusing if you start reading/listening to book 2 in this series without having read the first one. There were so many references throughout the story to Caleb and what monstrous things he did. Yet, there were never really mentioned in book 2, besides saying that Shay was hurt.

All the lovemaking and lovey-dove stuff was ehboring. Of course we learn that the lovey stuff helps with the wards on Thorns house but still. Nothing was really happening, no action. Its like theyd make love, talk lovey-dovey to each other, eat, and sit around waiting for something to happen. All that = boring.

Has A Murder of Crows turned you off from other books in this genre?

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

So this is the third story Ive listened to with this narrator. While she does really good with the accents, there are so many times where she suddenly talks slower or robotic-like.

Crimson Rush

Star seems a little dense....a bit slow on the learning curve, it was driving me nuts. The story wasn't bad per say but I knew what was coming, there were no real surprises. Even the fact it took her all that time to figure out she loved Marcus. There was a few instances where the author uses Marcus name instead of Jonas, I am surprised that wasn't picked up by beta readers.

This is about opposites attract. I mean a curse and a cure in someone that needs to die. I don't think love conquers all though but we hope and pray it does and that is how these stories are developed. I am in love with the characters and I can't wait to see how this journey ends.

More than half of the story was too similar to the Sookie Stackhouse series. It was a little disappointing, it felt like I was reading fan fiction and partially rereading Sookie's story.

I wonder if the following books in this series are better and more original...
