MY FAVORITE SWEETBLOOD SO FAR

Firstly, I love this Sweetblood Series and long may it continue and I think this has been my favorite because Jackson seemed such a lost and tortured soul as he fears he is becoming the very thing that he is hunting. But thankfully he meets Arianna and things start to look up.

Lots of great characters, many from past books, as they continue their fight against the Darkbloods plans to capture the Sweetbloods. However, this focuses more on Jackson and Arianna's love story as their relationship develops, grows and heats up - but there are still threats, kidnapping, fights and a an ahhhh of an ending.

Worth a credit? I'm going to judge this book not compare it to the undeniably top of it's class BDB - so it's a YES absolutely, a good and worthy series to sink your teeth into, and I'm off to listen to Santiago's story now which is the next in the series and is book 4.

Tempted By Blood is Guardian Jackson Floss's story. Jackson increased cravings for energy and blood from humans has him believing he is Reverting. Reverting into a Dark Blood like there ancient ancestors for a Guardian means a horrible execution. While on his routing checks to insure the Sweetbloods in the Guardian Data Base is safe from DB, Jackson runs into his charge Krystal a 15 year old about to be attacked by DB. Jackson doesn't realize at first that Krystal's cousin Arianna Wells is videoing him for her blog Paranormalish. He blog code name is Icy Shadows. Jackson is forced to take there phones and mind swipe there memories. What Jackson doesn't know is her phone automatically downloads to her cloud acct. A Fun Read

Why won't guys listen to women? A couple of Harry's escape plans didn't work out so well. I had to LOL at the wreck of the lil car. Typical guy. June was so patient with him, I would have knocked him out a couple of times. The story was packed full of action, storyline was very good. A couple of twists, but not all totally predictable. I finished it in a day.

It was a bit fun, but a bit corny. Reader was good, but story line was silly. It was a cute little read for all that. But I probably wont listen to it again.

Time Travel, Dinosaurs and Steampunk - Oh My

Thought this was a really good Steampunk book especially liked the characters involved and the plot. Really can't wait to read the other two books in the series.

I enjoyed "Prehistoric Clock" & look forward to reading other adventures in this world. I also hope to see something of Verity & Embrey.

The steampunk/time travel that could

I requested this book for review based on the interesting cover and premise, and was excited to get to read it. The first thing I noticed about Prehistoric Clock was that it was surprisingly well-written. Although I am a big fan of steampunk books, I wasn't entirely sure what I was going to get from a London-based steampunk novel with time travel and dinosaurs. It could be great fun, executed smoothly like Cherie Priest's Clockwork Century series, or it could have left much to be desired. I am happy to report that Prehistoric Clock was far from a disappointment.

The novel follows the stories of three different protagonists, each very different from the next. First, you have your the strong female figure, captain of an airship in a time when male dominance presides. She is beginning to question the motives behind some of her life decisions, and whether she truly wants to follow in the footsteps of her family. Then, there's the son of a marquess. His uncle and father were executed after a false trial rife with judicial conspiracy and forged evidence. He is doing his best to keep his enemies at bay and find out the truth behind the secret that led to his father's death. Finally, you have a jaded scientist devoting his time into developing a method of time manipulation to save his family à la The Butterfly Effect. Their paths become intertwined through a simple case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Prehistoric Clock has a lot going for it. The action scenes are heart-pounding. The suspenseful sequences are thrilling, leaving the reader with an appreciable growth of dread to rival the characters'. The mysterious elements of the plot leave you with niggling questions pricking at the back of your mind . The romantic scenes are sweet, not unnecessarily forced or over-the-top. It is a well-crafted, adeptly compiled and thoroughly entertaining novel. Fans of science fiction, steampunk, and time travel will delight in this wonderful gem.

Narration is horrible

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I can't in all honesty recommend this audiobook simply because of the author's narration. It is horrible! It's so boring I had to keep listening to parts of the book over & over because my mind would wander & I kept getting lost. It sounds like a librarian reading out loud to children for story hour. This was a really good book & I wish the author would consider having a professional narrator re-record the books. I think I will be getting a refund & will just buy the books on my Nook. Audio books are expensive & people should be able to listen to a narrator who can bring the book to life. I own over 200 audiobooks that I've listened to multiple times because the narrators are more like actors & make it a great experience.

Other than the narration I think the book is definitely worth reading. Save your money/credits & buy the ebook or paperback.

A Good Book RUINED by the author as the narrator

What would have made Matters of the Blood (Blood Lines, Book 1) better?

This is the first title in the Blood Line series and, as firsts go, there is enough here to interest readers into continuing on with the other four books in the series. My biggest problem with this book was that it was 98% hype. Okay I totally pulled the percentage out of thin air, or somewhere else if you'd like, but seriously...just a tad too heavy on hype. We hear through most of the book how powerful Keira is but we never just don't get to see said power put into action. At 38 she is considered young to be coming into her powers and no one is sure yet how they will manifest but I would have been much happier had Ms. Lima done more showing and a lot less telling.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I would have to say Keira is my most, and least, favorite character in this book. I read this title when it was first released in 2009 and knowing how she grows as a character throughout the series really helps turn me away from my desire to throw my MP3 player against the wall at some of her actions.

Narration is painful

The voice of the male role is so poorly narrated, he sounds like a gritty redneck, uneducated and crass. The woman character was completely off also. This was a painful listen.

Code of the Wolf

This is one of the first novels I read by Susan Krinard and found that I loved her writing and found a new appreciation for Paranormal Romance.

Cort and Aria.

I am reading this at the moment and find that the story line is a bit far fetched as the Baron is not telling the truth and neither is Aria. There seems to be a large amount of distrust between all parties concerned. Hopefully it will all work out.

excellent werewolf western romance

Although a decade has passed since the murderous werewolves killed his wife and left him for dead, Jacob Constantine survived but became a werewolf as a result of the assault. Over the ten years the former Texas Ranger and bounty hunter lived for one reason revenge.

In 1883 in the New Mexico Territory, an outlaw gang attacks Jacob and left him to die. Serenity Campbell and her female companions come across him and though her judgment says to leave him to die as she distrusts males since the assault six years ago; heeding the warning of the others she takes him to her ranch Avalon. The spread is run and operated by women only; all have horrific experiences with three legged humans. As Changyling heals him, Caridad believes Jacob is evil, but Serenity knows they need his help as his enemy and their enemy is the same.

This excellent werewolf western romance is a terrific thriller as the lead protagonists must choose between loathing fueled revenge and love. Action-packed with a strong support cast especially the females-only ranchers, readers will enjoy this fabulous late nineteenth century Americana as Jacob and Serenity must choose between love and hate.

Very good

Good writing, but I did skip from 42% to the last 20 pages because I knew enough to just want to see the ending. Maybe there was a little to much foreknowledge because I already knew he loved her. However others might not be so impatient and want to read the whole story, because it is very well written.

EXCITING

The story of Serenity and Jacob Constantine was a roller coaster ride of excitement. I really liked these people and was rooting for all of them to succeed.

Loved this book. Will be reading more. Can't wait for Zora's story to come out. Also want to find out more about the other residents of Avalon.

I liked it but....

This was an interesting read. It is very fast moving and you really do need to keep your attention on the book, there are some hot and steamy sex scenes but overall I thought there was too much going on.

I enjoyed the book but it isn't one that I can see my self listening to again and again like some others.

YIKES!

Co-themes of this book: continual same-sex rape and bondage along with describing the changing of a female human into a vampire like a dog in heat (including a heat scent) where constant sexual release would dull the pain. After reading a "professional" review on Amazon, I thought this book was going to be story-driven with sex on the side. Wrong. It was sex-driven, and not even well-written sex, with very little story on the side. I really should have known better. The narrator had a nasal quality that I found annoying.

the quality of the editing as the series progresses gets worse and worse

READ IT.

The only thing you might get irked by is the increasing amount of sentences starting with "But" as the series progresses. (I mean, it gets absurd). Also, the quality of the editing as the series progresses gets worse and worse, as if the publisher was focusing more on cranking the novels out on schedule than making sure they were ready to be published. That being said, as long as the funky editing towards the last couple books doesn't throw you off too badly, the series is amazing, like almost nothing I've read before.

The story continues!!

Really good action, mystery, and character interactions! The usual best from Laura Anne Gilman.

This is 6th in the series and it does need to be read from the beginning of the series for the most enjoyment. The stories are stand-a-lone, but the character development and background from the earlier stories areimportant.

If you like this kind of book it makes for great reading. Hated putting it down to go to bed.

Enjoyable, if not perfect.

Wren Valere is a Retriever. Using her Talent to channel "current", she performs what an everyday joe would call magic. Usually, she can get in, retrieve what the client has requested, and get out, no strings attached. This retrieval is special. She must obtain the notes of the mad scientist who created one of her best friends-P.B., a "demon" who has saved her life more than once-before those notes are grabbed by people who would enslave him.

There are actually a couple of stories going on here. Early in the book, Wren encounters the familiar scent of her mentor and father-figure, Ebenezer, whom she had previously presumed dead. Don't get me wrong, I love Gilman, and I enjoyed this book; however, this plot line suffered from too much tell and not enough show. I felt hammered with repetitive ruminations about Neezer and what he meant to Wren. I got it after the first couple shots, really. It seems space was wasted here that would have been better spent in the heads of the bad guys from the primary plot.

That said, this book is still some lovely stuff. I enjoyed the interstitials with Sergei in therapy. Wren and Sergei have long been a favorite fictional couple, and it's nice to see them working on normal (relatively) relationship stuff. I always favor series with non-magical romances; nothing is forced by fate. No "I knew she was my lifemate the moment I scented her" claptrap.

The main plot, though it needed more bad-guy time, is also a keeper. We find out more about P.B.'s mysterious past, with a hint that there may be a little more Talent science in the future. In addition, a nifty new character, in the form of a curious Federal agent, is introduced.

While I wouldn't exactly call this book a break, it is a lot less frantic than the last two, and that's completely welcome.
