Self-abandonment? What is self-abandonment? To Be Honest has an episode on self-abandonment last year, please go back to the archive and enjoy Episode 93 - Self-Abandonment (A Story of Jack and Jill) after listening to this one.
There are myriad reasons why relationships are so challenging and at times it is extremely taxing. According to Dr Margaret Paul, Dr Erika Chopich and Dr BB, the one cause of relationship challenges is - Self-Abandonment.
In this 2-part Episode, Dr BB dives deep into this topic. She also introduces Dr Paul's 6 Steps to Inner Bonding so you can learn and practise the skills to heal self-abandonment and love yourself authentically.
Do you doubt yourself often? Do you hide parts of yourself i.e. feelings, beliefs, and ideas etc.? Are you a people pleaser? Do you avoid feeling your painful feelings? What is your choice of "drug"? i.e. sugar: shopping; social media; attention; work; etc.? Do you know what your needs and wants are in order to lead a happy, healthy and authentic life?
We abandon ourselves whenever we behave in ways that we don’t value ourselves. When we don’t act in our own best interest, and when we don’t encourage and nurture ourselves. Notice how many of the above examples of self-abandonment ring true for you.
