50% of worldwide deaths occur due to the diseases with underlying chronic inflammation. 60% of Americans have a chronic inflammatory condition and more than 20% have more than one chronic inflammatory disease. Therefore, it is important as clinicians and patients to understand the immunology of inflammation. This will help us select the best approach for diet, lifestyle and therapies as well as the most useful labs to appropriately manage and treat chronic inflammation.
