Just because your parents decided to do things a certain way does not mean you have to as well. Once the kids have returned to work on the family operation, and tried something new that gets instantly shot down, they have only further conditioned them to be employees. You don’t want to leave your operation to an employee. Your kids need to be incentivised with responsibility, leadership, and ownership in the operation if you want them to stick around for 30-40 years.
