Danielle talks with Angelica Ross – actress, businesswoman, and trans rights advocate and educator. Danielle and Angelica dive into the impacts of the pandemic, emphasizing the ways in which our most vulnerable populations are at the highest level of risk. Angelica reflects on the realities of not being protected by the government and credos that this country propagates. She implores us all to respond to the call for Black Lives Matter by making it true. Danielle and Angelica note how marginalized communities, people who have the least amount of protections and privilege, are the ones putting the most on the line to stand up to oppressive systems. In her alternative definition of responsibility – to have the ability to respond – Angelica appeals to those at every level of privilege andx power to take responsibility for their platform by showing up and employing it in the service of others. Angelica believes that the ways in which we support celebrities and leaders, should be directly linked to the capacity those individuals have to show up on their platforms.
