March 07, 2024UK's Olly Alexander releases "Dizzy", Australia, Iceland, and Serbia songs revealed!On this episode of Éirevision, Conor and Lou share their thoughts on the latest entries revealed for Eurovision 2024. We've had so many songs released over the last ten days. Today, we're catching up as the United Kingdom's Olly Alexander releases his ESC song - "Dizzy". Australia, Iceland, and Serbia have also chosen their songs!Back in December 2023, the BBC announced Olly Alexander as the UK representative. Of course, everyone will know Olly from his time as lead singer of Years and Years and his acting credentials such as It's a Sin. Longtime Eurovision fan Olly has decided to rep the UK with the song, "Dizzy" - a song written by himself together with Danny L. Harle.Australia have been keeping their representative under lock and key. But not anymore! Australia Decides 2019 runners-up Electric Fields have been internally selected by SBS to head to Malmö with "One Milkali (One Blood)". The song is sung in English, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara, which is an Aboriginal language of the Anangu peoples – one of the oldest living cultures on earth. Serbia's Pesma za Evroviziju 24 concluded at the weekend. Despite many worthy songs competing, the trophy and honour of representing Serbia went to Teya Dora with "Ramonda". Finally, Iceland's Söngvakeppnin 2024 came to an end with Hera Björk taking the crown. She previously represented Iceland at Eurovision in 2010 with "Je ne sais quoi". Unlike previous years, the winner of Söngvakeppnin will not represent Iceland at Eurovision. Instead, the broadcaster RÚV and the winning artist will decide together if they wish the participate at Eurovision 2024.What do we think of the four latest songs? March 05, 2024We found Nemo - Switzerland unveil their entry alongside Netherlands, Cyprus, and Austria!On this episode of Éirevision, Conor and Lou share their thoughts on the latest entries revealed for Eurovision 2024. Over the last week, SEVEN countries revealed their representatives for Eurovision 2024 and in today's episode, we'll be chatting about: Switzerland, Netherlands, Cyprus, and Austria.We found Nemo! Switzerland unveiled Nemo and the song "The Code" as their selection for Malmö after an internal competition. Nemo is a non-binary Swiss rapper, singer, and musician and their song "The Code" is about the journey they started with the realization that they are neither a man nor a woman. The Netherlands announced in December 2023 that Joost Klein would represent them and we've finally gotten his song! "Europapa" is about an orphan who travels throughout Europe to find himself and tell his story and is a tribute to his father. Back in September 2023, the Cypriot broadcaster announced Cypriot-Australian singer, dancer, and actress Silia Kapsis for Eurovision 2024. After months of anticipation, "Liar" was released to the public. Since 2015, Cyprus has qualified for the final seven times, and failed only once in 2022. Silia will be hoping to continue their success but will she be able to?Finally, Friday saw Austria officially unveil techno-pop inspired song, "We Will Rave" by Kaleen. She has Eurovision experience too as at Eurovision 2018, Kaleen was the step-in singer during rehearsals for many countries. In 2021 and 2022 she took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest as creative director. She was even a stand-in during rehearsals for Ireland's very own, Sophie Lennon! February 27, 2024Poland, Belgium, San Marino, and Croatia choose their entries!On this episode of Éirevision, Conor and Lou continue to react to the latest batch of songs added to the Eurovision class of 2024. Over the last week, four countries selected their representatives for Eurovision 2024: Poland, Belgium, San Marino, and Croatia.We kicked off the week with two new entries as Poland and Belgium released their songs. Both countries decided to internally select their artist/song. On Monday, Poland revealed Luna as their representative with the song, "The Tower". The song was written in collaboration with Fyfe and Max Cooke, specifically for the Eurovision Song Contest. In August 2023, Belgium announced Mustii as their representative and now, we've finally got his entry! On Tuesday, his song "Before the Party's Over" was unveiled. The song is composed by Mustii himself with Benoit Leclerq and Pierre Dumoulin. Dumoulin was also behind Belgium’s Eurovision entries in 2017 (“City Lights”) and 2019 (“Wake Up”).On Saturday night, San Marino's national final Una Voce per San Marino took place with sixteen acts battling it out in the final for the golden ticket to Malmö. It was Spain's Megara who we saw compete in Benidorm Fest 2023 take home the top price. The jury chose the Spanish band and their song, "11:11". Finally, Sunday night saw the conclusion of Croatia's national final - Dora 2024. Sixteen made it to this final stage, including last years winners Let3. However, it was Baby Lasanga who emerged victorious and won the honour of waving the Croatian flag at Eurovision this May. February 19, 2024Our Super Weekend review as five more entries revealed!On this episode of Éirevision, Conor and Lou react to the latest entries as five more songs were revealed. Over the weekend, five countries selected their representatives for Eurovision 2024: Germany, Moldova, Estonia, Denmark, and Lithuania.On Friday, Germany's Das deutsche Finale 2024 saw nine songs battle it out for the chance to represent Germany at Eurovision. Ultimately, the jury and televise agreed that Isaak should head to Malmö with his song, "Always on the Run". Will Lou be as harsh on Germany like last year, or do they have chance of finishing in the top?Super Saturday kicked off with Moldova's Etapa națională 2024 with eleven songs in the running. Natalia Barbu finished at the top with her song, "In The Middle". She is the first returning artist this year to successfully win their national final! Eesti Laul 2024 concluded with 5miinust and Puuluup earning the golden ticket to Malmö with their song, "(Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi". Yes, that is the title of the song! Denmark picked their entry for Eurovision 2024 through their usual national-final, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. Eight artists were in the running which included Denmark's 2014 representative, Basim! However, Saba won the super-final with her song - "Sand". Super Saturday concluded with Lithuania choosing their representative through Eurovizija.LT . The newly crowned Swedish Grammy winner brought her tour to Ireland and we were delighted to spend some time with her prior to the show. She chats to us about Eurovision 2022, her Melodifestivalen experience, new music, and the possibility of seeing her in Malmö for Eurovision 2024! February 13, 2024Italy, Finland, and Latvia reveal their 2024 entries!On this episode of Éirevision, Conor and Lou react to the latest songs to be added to the class of 2024. Over the weekend, three countries selected their representatives for Eurovision 2024: Italy, Finland, and Latvia. Up first, Italy's famous Festival di Sanremo took place across the week as thirty of Italy's most famous artists battled it out for the trophy and the chance to represent Italy at Eurovision. The honour went to Angelina Mango and her song 'La Noia'.After finishing second last year, Finland are looking build on that result through their national final, Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK). Seven artists competed but the ultimately, the winner and ticket to Eurovision went to Windows95man and 'No Rules!'. Alex Basmati joins us to chat about the winning song alongside the other six songs which competed in UMK 2024.Finally, Latvia's Supernova 2024 concluded on Saturday night with Dons and his song, 'Hollow' earning the ticket to Malmö.
