Anunciamos el ciclo de Americana Music Madrid que tendrá lugar del 4 al 16 de junio en el Fernán Gómez. Icono del punk y reina bruja, la madrileña Ana Curra lleva 40 años recorriendo oscuros y tortuosos senderos musicales y existenciales. Recordamos con ella los lejanos días junto a Eduardo Benavente en los históricos Parálisis Permanente, los no menos fugaces Seres Vacíos o la nueva etapa de su carrera que despegó con la resurrección de El Acto. Ana, acompañada por el guitarrista Cesar Scappa, nos presenta en primicia varias canciones de su próximo disco, “Huaca”, y nos da pistas de lo que sucederá en sus próximos conciertos -8 de junio en Madrid y 14 en Lleida-.

En 1976 Peter Case lanzó con The Nerves un EP que se convertiría en antesala del movimiento power pop que emergería en los años siguientes. Después lideró The Plimsouls, icónica banda del género que con dos álbumes editados se quedó a las puertas del gran éxito. A mediados de los 80 arrancó su trayectoria en solitario, abrazando los sonidos de raíces. Su duodécimo álbum como Peter Case, “Hwy 62”, trae de vuelta a España a este trovador del folk-country-blues que vive para la carretera, y en su parada en el Sótano nos regala tres canciones en acústico, incluyendo una versión de Leadbelly.

Pete Shelley falleció el 6 de diciembre de 2018 a causa de un repentino ataque al corazón así que le debíamos un homenaje a él y a su grupo. Por otra parte este año se cumplen cuatro décadas de la edición del “Singles going steady”, compilación de los singles que había sacado la banda de Manchester, en su mayoría no incluidos en ninguno de sus tres álbumes. Este disco acaba de ser reeditado por Domino Records.
