I am new at this I don’t know if I can do this - They probably think I am an idiot

vs.

I may be new but, They know I care and am doing my best.  They are happy to be patient with me because I will go above and beyond for them.

I have a plan to be sure they are well tended to so they get the best.

You get what you expect others will give you.

Go beyond - Next Level

Get a promotion.  Remove an obstacle.  Create curiosity. Don’t create obstacles for yourself.  Dress for where you want to go rather than where you are.

You need to be different enough you get noticed But not so different you get discounted.

Transform your sales, your client relationships, your family relationships, and most importantly, your quality of life.  Who you are and what you attract multiplies!  Quality interactions attract quality people. As you progress you will be significantly more productive and have a lot more fun doing it.

Somehow our vision, purpose and people focus gets lost along the way through what I label detachment theory.  Don’t lose the compassion for the real individual lives you, your product, and your company in serving.

Traditional Sales is Predator vs. Prey - one person in the office, and another in the home.  One person with prospects, and another with friends.  One person under pressure, and another Sunday morning.

The discrepancy of alignment gives off a faint yet distinct odor of disingenuousness.  Over time, it gets in your clothes and everyone you meet senses it.  Just like the closet smoker who tries to mask with mints and fresheners, no one is fooled.

Frustrated that I could not bridge the gap - Trying to connect - I would come home frustrated because I knew there was something more but was not able to connect with a referral to discover the key insights about their situation or their past to serve them.  And she would often say in an attempt to defend me or make me feel better, you cannot care about their situation more than they do.  When she did, I would get myself feeling more frustrated but didn’t know why until the last few years.

Caring more is when moments of impact happen. Teachers mentors advocates. I care because I care. If you don’t care about yourself that is your choice. Usually, you are distracted by something else.

Let the default plan be what you were only THINKING ABOUT.  And if you want to think about something, think about not doing what you want.

Client - I am thinking about retiring when I turn 63.  I am not sure if I want to but I am thinking about it.  Decide to retire at 63 and then think about changing your mind to not retire at 63.

Dream vacation - schedule it knowing you may cancel if you would like to change your mind.

This powerful concept will change your outcomes.

Easier to attempt to engage in the life of others than to engage in our own.  It is so much harder for us to show up in OUR OWN LIVES then to show up in the lives of others.  Be where your feet are.  

Can you just be?  Can you just relax? … No, I can’t!!

Life’s Work Episode 026 - Does is align with what is most important right now?  If so why are you doing something else?  If not, why do it?

Can you just do?  Can you keep both hands on the plow and decide in your mind for a moment that it is enough?

I received comments from a friend recently who told me - Stop saying things in your podcast like - maybe you don’t agree, maybe don’t like this, don’t laugh, don’t say or act in a way that may discount all the positive things you do.  You already sound humble, relatable and you don’t come across cocky or condescending.  After all, If they don’t like your message and don’t agree, they would not be listening.

When using self-deprecating talk be sure you are not minimizing your strengths.   It is ok to connect through your human side, but don’t minimize your talents and abilities.

You don’t need to make yourself small to encourage others to enlarge.
