October 19, 2018 ElkShape Podcast EP 39 - Levi Day
Your succuss will not determine my success.
This episode has it all, we sit down with a great friend, MR. Levi Day. Levi's blue collar roots have molded him into quite the elk hunter, but even a better man. Levi lives in Oregon, but has spent many years living and breathing in Idaho and has had lots of success on public land elk with minimal time. Levi is an educator by day, so his fall hunts are mainly spent on the weekends yet he finds a way to be successful year after year. Levi breaks down his fitness journey, his lifestyle of delayed gratification, and we even talk about some of his biggest lessons in the elk woods. We finish up the show by discussing how many big name hunters have gone to elk hunting private ranches and we break down how to define your own success. We talk about how to be proud of your animal and how to stay respectful to the way other people decide to hunt. We paint a perspective that should keep a positive light on public land general tag elk hunting.
We end the show on finances for elk hunting and how Levi's approach keeps him out of debt and saving up for years to come.

October 07, 2018 ElkShape Podcast EP 37 - Attorney Converts to an Elk Hunter
Patrick J. Walsh did not grow up in a hunting family, he has zero hunters in his circle of friends or colleagues. By day, he's an attorney and part owner of a local gym. I've been aquainted with him for several years, running into him at CrossFit competitions and answering a few random texts from him periodically about hunting. Well, this year he decided to try bowhunting elk after a couple of years of learning how to shoot a bow and messing with local whitetail deer hunting.
My mind was and still is kind of blown that a guy in his later thirties was attracted to the idea of taking time away from his beautiful wife and stressful job, and go cut his teeth on public land over-the-counter elk hunting in Idaho. I sit down with him and engage in a conversation on how he got interested in the idea of doing his own killing with a bow on public land. Let's be honest here, a guy like him could probably afford a sweet guided elk hunt on some amazing privage ranch ground, yet he chose to do it the hard way and I dig in to find out why. This is one of my favorite recorded conversations, you're going to learn something on this episode!

August 20, 2018 ElkShape Podcast EP 34 - Elk Hunting Prowess
This episode is a "Swapcast" with the East Meets West Podcast hosted by Beau Martonik. His podcast is geared towards the hunter that wants more out of the hunt than just the kill. It’s for the hunter that loves planning and preparing for the hunt, just as much as the hunt.
Beau picks my brain on preparing for elk hunting 365 with the mindset that hard work and discpline will push you past your public land competition. We break down what it means to control your effort and attitude, what specific items you can control before the hunt starts. We disect elk hunting tactics depending on the terrain and landscape, hunting pressure and what it takes to crush the elk hunting learning curve. Other items are goal setting, mental toughness reps, CrossFit, and balancing hunting and family.
