1080 poison is one of the top 10 deadliest poisons known to man. It kills every air breathing animal and is also a broad-spectrum insecticide. It is used widely by the New Zealand government, purportedly to kill non-native species in New Zealand’s wilderness areas. The poison is manufactured in the US, where only 4 tablespoons are used each year. New Zealand is the biggest user of 1080 in the world, a small island country where 86% of all 1080 use worldwide takes place. 4 tons of this highly toxic poison are spread in forests, mountains, meadows and waterways every year – enough to kill the entire population of the country, four times over. There’s big industry driving the carnage, government profit being derived from the poison and research being funded by those with financial interests in this chemical in an attempt to convince the public that no harm is being done. But the truth is in the forests and the people living around the drop zones are fed-up, and are fighting back.
