In this teaching episode, I share with you some practical tips for incorporating self-care into your everyday rhythms so that you can move out of a place of just surviving each day. The concept of self-care is more and more common in our day and age, but often we are just pandering to our Enneagram Type and not our authentic self. When we think about self-care, we might have a list of self-soothing or comforting activities, but I want to explore with you how we might intentionally care for our heart, mind, & body with our Enneagram Types in mind.

In this episode, I share the coaching space with an Enneagram Five that’s a working mother with five kiddos ranging from an infant to teenagers. We explore how to balance the often overwhelming expectations of motherhood with her personal need to have time alone. Whether you are a Type Five or not, I think all the mothers out there can relate to how overwhelming it can be to balance your needs with the demands of parenthood. I also share in this episode my personal opinion about Enneagram Wings, so let’s see if you agree with me or not. Okay friends, let’s take on a posture of curiosity as you listen to my coaching conversation.

In this teaching episode, I teach about the Defense System for each of the nine Types and share how the three parts of this system activate to keep us stuck in the patterns of our Type. The Defense System has a profound impact on our relationships, which is why I teach more on this topic in the virtual Enneagram & Relationship Workshop Series in October. This episode expounds on one of the topics that arose in the Type Four coaching session in the previous episode.

In this episode, I share the coaching space with an Enneagram Type 4 who is an English Teacher from Texas. Her intention for coaching was to shed light on the strengths of her Type and how to be more practical rather than idealistic in her work as a teacher. In our time together we talk about the gift of being emotionally attuned with themselves & others and how she sees that in her work. We also talk about the defense mechanism of Type 4’s - Introjection - and how that plays out in the feedback she receives from her coworkers. Listen in with curiosity & compassion to see what resonates in your experience or in the experience of the Enneagram Fours in your world.

In this episode, I share the coaching space with an Enneagram Type Three whose intention for coaching came out of a desire to avoid burnout in the midst of a busy work season. We talk about the characteristic of Type 3’s naturally striving to be even better than the day before & how we might shift that into considering how to take even better care of ourselves than the day before. We also explore some of the elements of how Type 3s show up as leaders and some of the tendencies to be mindful of in their forward momentum. Okay, friends, I hope you’ll listen in with curiosity & compassion and see what resonates in your experience.

In this episode, I share the coaching space with an Enneagram Type 2 from Seattle, Washington. Her intention for coaching comes out of a desire to communicate well in conversations with loved ones about controversial topics that seem to keep coming up. For Twos, this can be such a tricky space to balance their orientation towards connection, but also holding boundaries around what they need in a relationship. If you lead with Type Two or are in a relationship with an Enneagram Two, listen with curiosity & compassion and see what you can take away from our coaching conversation.

In this episode, I share the coaching space with an Enneagram Type 1 that’s a homeschooling momma of kiddos ranging in age from preschool up to junior high. Building off of her experience participating in the Enneagram Foundations workshop, we explore how to turn down the volume on the inner critic and invite a posture of self-compassion in her experience as a mom. Our coaching conversation also illuminated the somatic expression of Anger for Type Ones, which often shows up as tightness in their throat or rigidity in their jawline from pent-up frustrations throughout the day. Listen in with curiosity & compassion to see what resonates in your experience or in the experience of the Enneagram Ones in your world.

Hey Enneagram Friend! I’m Abbi - an IEA Accredited Enneagram Teacher & Narrative Enneagram Practitioner. I teach Enneagram workshops with corporate and non-profit teams, and I also facilitate…
In this season of Enneagram Coaching with Abbi, I share live coaching episodes where we explore the dynamics of our Enneagram Type within the context of our work environment. For those in the workforce, we spend the bulk of our work week interacting with various personalities from our supervisor to co-workers to the clients & customers we serve. Sometimes those interactions with others are incredibly life-giving, but we can also find ourselves discouraged & exhausted by the personality dynamics in our workplace. In a recent article in Psychology Today, it was reported that over 50% of employees quit because of a bad manager, which creates a drain on resources due to employee turnover. A lack of self-awareness and emotional intelligence within the workplace has a direct impact on staff retention and the organizations ability to thrive in their industry.
Not only will you benefit in an increased self-awareness from understanding your own Enneagram Type, but having more in-depth knowledge about all the nine Types fosters emotional intelligence & can dramatically improve your working experience with others. In a recent Forbes article, about 80% of millennial respondents indicated that emotional intelligence is something they actively focus on as they develop their careers. My intention is that this podcast, along with the corporate Enneagram workshops I teach, will be a resource in your personal and professional growth.
