Challenger Series competitor, former Championship Tour surfer, and DJ Dimity Stoyle joins to talk about her career. She discusses focusing all her energy at the moment on the Challenger Series, starting off at Gold Coast and continuing at Sydney. She looks back at how commentating with Laura Enever on the WSL broadcasts last year and making the film Surfing with Dan Scott, Ava Warbrick, and all her closest friends during the pandemic gave her the urge to return to doing contests. She talks about signing with Roxy at age 30 and shares thoughts on the current state of surfing, how major brands are shifting more towards valuing people who are true to who they are and passionate about what they do, and trying to set a good example for the next generation of women in surfing. Then she dives into her DJ career, her alter-ego Shimmy Disco, the music she loves to play, how she creates a vibe, and how DJing is her second passion and the perfect job for a surfer. Dimity also shares stories about her origin story, her eye-opening first season on the Championship Tour, traveling and competing with Steph Gilmore, her future plans for music, and what she’s looking forward to for the rest of the Challenger Series season.
