Worship was intended to be a huge blessing to foster intimacy with God. But, as with any good thing, the spirit of religion has caused too many to be turned off or actively repelled by worship. We should patently resist allowing religion make worship or any spiritual discipline another demand or requirement for righteousness. We should also make sure that we worship God as He truly is and not misrepresent Him as distant, separate, condemning, angry, and loveless. It is our birthright to experience overflowing intimacy and healing that flows through all of the spiritual disciplines, including worship.
