When I was first introduced to the concept of personal power, I thought it was impossible to take control of my own internal state regardless of what was happening outside of me. I was a victim, and didn't know differently. I thought I needed to get everything to be exactly like I wanted it to be so that I could be ok. That's an extremely painful way to live.
