Over a 14-year sporting career, Sharni Layton became one of our most well-known and decorated netball players. She's won world titles with the Samsung Diamonds, along with Commonwealth Games gold in 2014. Meanwhile, off the court, the popular defender shocked Australia earlier this year when she has bravely stepped away from the court and missed the 2018 Commonwealth Games due to mental exhaustion. Having recently retired from netball (and announced a move to AFLW in 2019) Sharni's now more determined than ever to make a comeback on the international stage, speak openly about mental health, and be an inspiration to others who've experienced adversity. In this intimate chat, Sharni shares what she's learnt about emotional resilience, backing yourself, the incredible rise of women in sport, and how she finally decided it was time to walk away from the career she truly loved.
