The Enneagram helps us to have grace and compassion for ourselves. This is huge, because there is an inextricable relationship between how you treat yourself and how you treat others. Jesus invites us to love your neighbor as we love yourself. With an understanding of compassion and empathy, of recognizing different ways to communicate, of being present, and having awareness, we can now see the full benefits of seeing ourselves and others so clearly. We can see how and why we need to have grace and compassion for ourselves before we’re able to fully extend it to others. None of us are perfect. When we learn to embrace our own identity as beloved and operate out of an overflow of being loved, then we shift our posture toward others. Instead of seeing others as a way to fulfill our own need for love, we move toward them to help them experience love.
