Our next guest on the Good Luck Club Podcast is Mikaal Abdulla, co-founder and CEO of Hong Kong-based mobile investing company, 8 Securities.

Mikaal and his business partner Mathias Helleu have been in the news lately, as 8 Securities was just acquired by SoFi, the SoftBank-backed consumer financial services platform based in the US. 8 Securities launched in 2012, and raised US$70 million in funding from investors including Velocity Capital, Route 66 Ventures and Nomura Asset Management.

We talk to Mikaal about his entrepreneurial journey, and his experience as a company man before taking the leap to building his own hugely successful start up. He shares insights on the difference between the Japan and Hong Kong markets, what made him risk it all to start a business of his own, as well as his unique take on luck.
