Dr. Michel has a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Amsterdam and is an associate professor and Chair of Language Learning at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. She conducts research into language learning processes in a second language, foreign language didactics, and multilingualism in educational contexts.
