Today I am speaking with Jordan Bruce from The Brightsiders. Jordan is a Brisbane mased muralist and contemporary artist. He is driven to participate and add to the visual landscape of public space. The immediacy and impact of graffiti on the urban environment had a formative impression on his way of seeing and engaging in art. From this platform Jordan moved into painting murals, co-founding Brightsiders and creating large scale artworks across the country. Jordan’s personal art practice runs in tandem to his mural work, a feedback loop of experiences, technique and inspiration. Jordan is drawn to the detail of colour and texture, light and shadow in nature, observing and reflecting this through his work. In this interview we talk about life balance, the ebs and flows of work, diversification and painting silos.
