Like many college students, she was embracing this new chapter—immersed in learning, exploring, making friends, and dating. However, her life took a tragic turn when she connected with a man on Tinder. After a few dates, Meeka decided not to continue seeing him, but he began stalking her and, on March 6, 2022, brutally murdered her. The case, which became widely known as the "Tinder Murder" in the Netherlands, stands out because unlike many other cases, we know what happened to Meeka, and her killer was apprehended. I believe this case is important to highlight because many young people travel abroad to study, often unaware of the potential dangers they might face.
