On this episode of Expanded Perspectives, the guys start the show off by talking about the ridiculous amount of pollen, ragweed, and other allergens blowing around in the north Texas air. Then, a person claims to have possibly spotted the Jersey Devil near the pine barrens of southern New Jersey. Next, a person writes in with a possible Sasquatch encounter that happened while out looking for gold in Humbolt County, California.

After the break, Cam brings up some chilling tales of inventors who created something that led to their own demise. The phrase “fake news” has become almost meaningless as people use it to describe anything going on that they don’t like, but the original purpose was essential. There are websites out there that present conspiracy theories as actual facts when they’re not, and we’ve learned that they actually convince vast amounts of people sometimes. It’s pretty scary. Even though most conspiracy theories don’t hold water, some situations are disturbing enough to warrant another look or two. Over the years, scientists have been on the cutting edge, making pivotal discoveries that have changed the course of the world. It’s understandable that some people might not want those discoveries getting out into the world.

Next, a person in Michigan says two large Sasquatch like creatures followed him and his daughters while out riding 4 wheelers.

After the break, Kyle tells the horrific story of a group of settlers who faced insurmountable odds while crossing the Rocky Mountains. If it had worked out differently, the group of settlers that came to be known as the Donner Party would have slipped over the Sierra Nevada into California—and obscurity. But poor planning, a series of bad decisions, and early snowstorms caused 60 of the original pioneers to become stranded in the mountains during the winter of 1846. And as hypothermia set in and food ran out, many resorted to that greatest of human taboos: cannibalism.

Anyone who is a fan of ghost hunting or paranormal investigation shows can tell you where you might run into some of the country's scariest real-life ghosts. Famous homes like the Whaley House, the Winchester Mystery House, and Lizzie Borden's Fall River home all have well-known reputations for scaring visitors out of their wits. We get it, abandoned hospitals, morgues, funeral homes, old sanitariums, and creepy old houses are often times haunted. But what about places you never think of like Police Stations? Turns out a lot of Police Stations are haunted!

Over the years, various theories have been proposed to explain the Third Man. These attempts at understanding are themselves a record of man's changing conception of himself. They begin with the guardian angel, followed by the sensed presence and the shadow person. As clerics and then psychologists, and finally neurologists, theorized about the phenomenon, the trend has been a gradual reduction from the outside in, from God, to the mind, to the brain.

The Third Man represents a real and potent force for survival, and the ability to access this power is a factor, perhaps the most important factor, in determining who will succeed against seemingly insurmountable odds, and who will not. And yet, in these stories in situations where success appears to be impossible, or death imminent something happens. There, amid the anxiety, fear, blood, sadness, exhaustion, torment, isolation, and fatigue, is an outstretched hand another existence, proffering a "transfusion of energy, encouragement, and instinctual wisdom from a seemingly external source." A presence appears, a Third Man who, "leads you out of the impossible."

Then, a Chicago woman at her father's apartment sees a Glimmer Man! Next, some police officers back in the summer of 1989 in Washington state, see a strange glowing orb with a creature walking inside!

After the break Cam brings up the strange legend of the Victorio Peak Treasure and Milton Ernest "Doc" Noss. Victorio Peak, a craggy outcropping of rock barely five hundred feet tall, lies in the center of a dry desert lake known as the Hembrillo Basin. Beyond the Hembrillo Basin is a hundred-mile stretch of desert known as the Jornada del Muerto. Victorio Peak, located in northern Dona Ana County, now lies within the White Sands Missile Range in south-central New Mexico. However, long before Victorio Peak was encompassed by the government, a man by the name of Milton Ernest “Doc” Noss spent some time exploring Victorio Peak while on a deer hunt. Inside he found a hoard of treasure including coins, jewels, saddles, and priceless artifacts including a gold statue of the Virgin Mary. He also found some old letters, the most recent of which was dated 1880. This treasure was only the beginning. In a deeper cavern, Doc found what he thought was a stack of worthless iron bars. He estimated there were thousands of these bars, each weighing over forty pounds stacked against a wall. He was barely able to lift one, much less think of carrying it back to the surface. Later, the wealth in the cave would be calculated to be worth more than two billion dollars. But he would never obtain all of the treasure, it seems that the government swooped in and took it all. Others claim it was a giant hoax!
