Express Yourself!

Keerthi hosts a program focusing on dystopia, dystopian literature, and our views of the future. In segment one, Keerthi introduces us to dystopian literature. In segment two, she contemplates possible dystopian scenarios that can result in our world going in a downward spiral. In segment three, British Keerthi arrives with Nerd Extraordinaire providing tips on how to write dystopian fiction! Dystopia is a subgenre of science fiction. Science fiction is defined as fantasy that has supernatural, science-based elements in it. Soft science fiction focuses on social sciences, and hard science fiction focuses on the natural sciences. The dystopian genre is a prediction of life in the future, and it specifically is a negative prediction, basically portraying the future as this horrible, ruined, world plagued and bound by the restricting demands of society; essentially, the opposite of a utopia. Within the realm of fiction, it is always tempting to set one's stories in a dystopian future, where all our misgivings about state power can be shown in full force." - Anne Fortier • Follow us: https://www.starstyleradio.com/expressyourselfteenradio • https://www.facebook.com/ExpressYourselfTeenRadio/ • https://www.facebook.com/BTSYAcharity/ • Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/expressyourselfradio/ NFTs: https://www.StarStyleCommunity.com

Ruhani and Sharanya tackle the woke movement in the 21st century. Wokeness has brought greater attention to issues of social justice and inequality, including racism, sexism, homophobia, and ableism. This has led to increased activism and advocacy for marginalized communities and has sparked important conversations about how to create a more equitable society. Wokeness has led to changes in how we talk about and represent different groups of people. This has included the adoption of more inclusive language, such as using "they" as a gender-neutral pronoun. Wokeness has also challenged traditional power structures, such as white supremacy and patriarchy, and has called for greater diversity and inclusion in all areas of society. This has led to increased scrutiny of institutions like the police, the government, and the media, and has sparked calls for reform and change. The rise of wokeness has also contributed to political polarization, with some people seeing it as a threat to traditional values and others embracing it as a necessary step towards progress. This has led to intense debates and disagreements about the role of government, the limits of free speech, and the future of democracy. An increased emphasis on the differences between Democrat vs. Republican is apparent. Both Ruhani and Sharanya share original personal poems. The woke movement is not what people think it is. It is not wokeness at all. Instead, it is a human society that has fallen into yet another pothole of both the ego and unconsciousness. - Teal Swan • Follow us: https://www.starstyleradio.com/expressyourselfteenradio • https://www.facebook.com/ExpressYourselfTeenRadio/ • https://www.facebook.com/BTSYAcharity/ • Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/expressyourselfradio/ NFTs: https://www.StarStyleCommunity.com

Ethics is what guides us to tell the truth, keep our promises, or help someone in need. There is a framework of ethics underlying our lives on a daily basis, helping us make decisions that create positive impacts and steering us away from unjust outcomes. Our ethics are fueled by our individual cultures, backgrounds and identities. In today's broadcast, Hannah and Keerthi dive into the world of ethic with their personal research and present information from the notes of Rose, who was unable to participate. Hannah reflecting the prevalent topics of gene editing and animal testing in labs while Keerthi discusses ethics and debate with how they spar with impact and facts. All agree that students benefit from taking ethic courses as a method of empowering students to make ethical and moral decisions. Through studying society's past decisions, students can analyze and learn right and wrong decisions. Engaging with ethical problems builds lifelong thinking skills that are not taught nor developed in any other traditional class. "Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is right to do." Keerthi and Ruhani host a program on how to start and grow a small business. Milan suggests that youth can start a small business by using YouTube, Ebay, and other social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok. Even a garage sale or a lemonade stand is a business. In a discussion, Ruhani and Keerthi both agree that they enjoy the "coziness" and "personalization" of small businesses because small businesses get to know their customers wishes and desires more than a large company. To start a small business, you have to be organized, keep accurate accounts, and be passionate. Ruhani talks about the power of social media, especially Tik Tok, to grow your business. She would like to start a small bookstore/café in her neighborhood with weekly author events. Keerthi would like to start a music store that sells only sheet music that can be scanned to listen to the sound before buying. Kevin joins the conversation with information on CHATGPT and information on how AI could help individuals start a company or new business, especially through data entry and automation. Kevin would like to start a thrift store! "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." - T.S.
