  • 'Tis the Season to Celebrate
Rejoice! It is the season to be filled with gratitude, merriment, and mirth. Hosts Henna Hundal and Asya Gonzalez have created a fun and festive program sharing creative ways to make this holiday as joyous as possible. Baking, praying, decorating, giving, laughing, and donating are all part of our December offerings. Father of five children, award winning author, Jeff Gunhus thrills our hosts with his books that feature his children as characters. His first book, Jack Templar Monster Hunter, was written in an effort to get his reluctant reader eleven-year old son excited about reading. It worked and a new series was born starring his other children. What would Christmas be without caroling? Our chanteuse reporter, Jennifer Lee, enlivens the discussion with the funny back stories as well as her vocal versions of two favorite holiday songs, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Santa Baby. As part of our Express Yourself!™holiday gift to you, Be the Star You Are!® charity is offering three of its signature books for sale for the holidays at a discount of 55%. Buy Be the Star You Are!®, Be the Star You Are!® for Teens, or The Business of Show Business for the ULTRA DISCOUNT (55% off) PRICE of $9.99 plus shipping through December 31. • Importance of Life Skills
Our most formative years are between birth and the time we leave home around age 18. Young people are impressionable, soft clay ready to be molded. We heed the signposts, mentally taking note about how to navigate our world. It's during this time that we can learn to acquire the tools, tips, and tricks needed to live a virtuous and successful life. Hosts Henna Hundal and Asya Gonzalez share the skills they've learned and how they want to embrace life as adults and interview two amazing guests. Author of Bird Face, Mississippi's Cynthia Toney talks about her admiration for teenagers and the importance of being supportive while gleaning as much proficiency in what matters as possible. Ricky Roberts III is the author of four books, including YOU, What Really Matters. He is a youth advocate, speaker, and visionary who believes that everyone matters and deserves to know it. He is the creator of You Are Valued, a nonprofit organization that inspires youth to see the value in who they are, and appreciate the same in others. As we say at Be the Star You Are!®, "Everyone counts, especially YOU!" Learn something new every day. Having a skill set in whatever is important to you makes a difference in your quality of living.

  • Drugs, Alcohol, and Red Ribbon Week
Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a group of small, thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Today the Red Ribbon symbolizes communities mobilizing to educate youth and encourage involvement in drug prevention activities. Host Henna Hundal with Social Responsibility Reporter, Asya Gonzalez, shine the light on ways to stay drug, alcohol, and tobacco free through personal insights, scientific research, parental tips, and peer to peer pacts. Henna offers tips for teens to refrain from getting involved in risky behavior and how to be confident in the conviction to stay clean. As parents and citizens, we will talk to our children and the children in our lives about the dangers of drug abuse. 2. We will set clear rules for our children about not using drugs. 3. We will set a good example for our children by not using illegal drugs or medicine without a prescription. 4. We will monitor our children's behavior and enforce appropriate consequences, so that our rules are respected. 5. We will encourage family and friends to follow the same guidelines to keep children safe from substance abuse. I PLEDGE TO SET GUIDELINES TO HELP CHILDREN GROW UP SAFE, HEALTHY AND DRUG-FREE.

  • Fear
No matter how old are, how big you are, or how brave you are, we all have our fears. Some fears we outgrow, but others stay with us for years -- housed in the corners of our minds and the nerve endings of our bodies. Fear come in all shapes and sizes from debilitating fears dominating our daily lives to insignificant qualms that simply make us uneasy. Being scared may be rational or irrational, originating from past experiences, the anticipation of future catastrophes or mere figments of our imagination. What is fear? What makes some of us afraid and others not? To get some answers to these questions our hosts Henna Hundal and Caiseen Kelley have in depth conversations with reporters Katelyn Darrow and Asya Gonzalez. Katelyn discusses Universal Studios terrifying haunted houses, Asya reveals personal secret fears, Caissen delves into the fears surrounding technology, and Henna relates fears in the writing of her new book. Whether your fear is real, imagined, physical, or emotional, you'll emerge a bit more courageous after listening to our talented teens converse. As Mark Twain said, "Courage is the resistance to fear, not the absence of fear."
