**BONUS*** For this week’s episode, we spent about 3 hours with the great Brendon Bigley living inside George Lucas's brain and exploring MYSTERY OF THE BLUES, an episode of the YOUNG INDIANA JONES television series where a bearded Harrison Ford uncovers a tiny saxophone from his past, and, yes, saves jazz.
This TV show, really, truly, belongs in a museum.

This week’s episode is all about holding many thoughts at once: Is TEMPLE OF DOOM racist? Yes. Is it mean-spirited? Yes. But does Short Round also kick ass? That’s what makes this so hard…Joining us today to help wade through the minefield of this film is our old friend Warren Chao!

Demon hotels, Liam Neeson, toxic fans, goblin babies, time-traveling ghouls, Things, Things, and more Things...we saw it all this winter.
But it's time to say goodbye. Our April miniseries will kick off next week. Until then, farewell, Winter Hell.

Our intro song for Winter Hell is a mish mosh of soundtracks and dialogue clips that are pulled from horror films that take place in the frozen cold. Wendy Carlos and Rachel Elkind’s “Main Title” track for The Shining and Ennio Morricone’s composition for The Thing are the central themes you hear.
The outro music is the ominous end credits song from The Shining called “Midnight and the Stars are You” by Ray Noble and His Orchestra with vocals by Al Bowlly.

What was the original THING that came before THE THING and also before the the prequel to THE THING?
It's 1951’s THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD, where the titular Thing is basically Carrot Frankenstein...and we fucking loved it. Really, it's worth watching.

It’s March. The end of Winter Hell is upon us. To lead us into our THE THING finale, we’re warming up a little THING miniseries first.
This week, it’s the (mostly forgotten) 2011 prequel film directed Matthijs van Heijningen Jr…which is also called THE THING.

When we decided to do a winter horror miniseries, we left one slot open fantasizing that Alex Ross Perry (director of HER SMELL, LISTEN UP PHILIP) would come school us about a forgotten gem of the genre.
And he did. Renny Harlin’s DEVIL’S PASS is wild.
