It's international women's day today and I'm celebrating this wonderful day by talking with Lucy Vanel about a subject that I love in a city that I love, the Mères lyonnaises. These women are throughout history and even today are a really important part of France, French culture, and most importantly French cuisine.
Lucy is someone I meet in Lyon in 2014. She has been living in Lyon for many years now and is a fabulous chef with cooking classes in Lyon. Lucy is celebrating the Mères Lyonnaises along with Tanisha Townsend and Rosa Jackson, previous guests with an event online. This event supports women in the kitchen so check out the link below for more details.

Canelés de Bordeaux is the little jewels of French pastry. Delicious custard-like interior with a wonderful dark crust flavored with vanilla and rum. Who wouldn't want one? But what's the history of the canelé and how do you make them? Well joining me on Fabulously Delicious today is someone that loves French food so much they rival me in many ways. Cookbooks are a passion, cooking as well. Katherine Burns might be a commercial real estate agent by day but she is an expert in French food by night and on the weekends, and lunchtimes, and breakfast I'm sure. Katherine is here to tell us all about Canelés.

This is a bonus episode for you all. The last episode's topic was Onion Soup with Beth Fuller and we chatted about all things onion soup. So I wanted to share with you a fab recipe for onion soup that's a go-to for me. It's from Mastering the Art of French cooking by Julia Childs, Louisette Bertholle, and Simone Beck.
I found a new love and that is dramatic recipe reading. Hopefully, in the coming weeks you will get to know me a bit more and love these bits of fun in-between our regular episodes. In the future, the readings will get better and better.
