Kodiak Island Alaska - a coveted hunting location by many. This week's guest, Kyler Berges set a goal to check one off the bucket list when he began preparing for his first ever Brown Bear hunt. He worked hard preparing as much as possible when it came to his gear, his physical condition and his mental state. He knew it would be the most challenging hunt he's ever been on, but to a certain extent nothing can truly prepare you for an experience like this outside of actually doing it. Kyle takes us from start to finish through this episode, starting with his preparation going into it, followed by the reality of the Kodiak Island he found himself on. Nearly 2 weeks, 4 different stalks on brown bears, and day after day on their feet running and gunning, this trip puts Kyle to the extreme test. Tune in for an incredible adventure, including one situation that some may argue is a little too close for comfort.

We've talked a lot of whitetails in recent weeks, and Sam has gradually shared his own hunting journey from the 2024 season. However there is one big piece of the story that has been missing, and that is the experiences of our Production Director Nick Powell. He joins Sam for this episode to take us through his hunting journey last year, and namely his encounters with a buck called "Bow Blind Buck". Without doubt the most mature buck on the property, this deer had Nick and Sam scratching their heads multiple times trying to figure out how to hunt him. Nick was the first to actually put eyes on the buck in person, and what followed was nothing short of chaotic and exhausting events for any hunter. Join us for the full story and another installment in the lengthy saga that we call "Texas Dirt".

Hunting is a way of life and sustainability for many of us, and as is human nature we normally associate ourselves with like-minded individuals who support our passions and lifestyles. Yet today's world of social media often opens the door for those who don't necessarily agree with us to take to their keyboards and speak their minds. In this episode, Sam takes the opportunity to discuss our interactions with anti-hunting activists. He highlights some recent posts on Fall Obsession's social media pages which hit the algorithms just right and popped up in the feeds of some less-than-pleasant individuals. Sam takes the opportunity to explain how we are all ambassadors of hunting and the outdoor lifestyle, and we as hunters and outdoors men and women should still be able to defend hunting in these circumstances while being respectful and not stooping to the level of emotional instabilities the anti's want us to fight from. Sam also talks about how we have to be supportive of each other in our own interactions with fellow like-minded people, because when we disrespect other hunters we are poorly representing hunting as a whole. This is a deep episode, and Sam does not hold back at all. The gloves are off, we are speaking truth and calling it what it is.

The most valuable time of the year for any whitetail hunter is arguably "The Rut". Bucks are moving around the clock and pushing does outside of their normal routine, and it makes for some entertaining and enjoyable sits in the woods. This week we are joined on the Podcast by one of our own, Ryan Reading, a Pro Staffer from New York. With over 30 years of hunting experience, and roughly a decade of time spent managing his own properties in the Northeast, Ryan has spent a lot of time studying deer behavior, observing patterns and pulling data from his Tactacam Reveal Cell Cams, and not to mention hunting big whitetails. Specifically, a recent 3 year quest to tag his number 1 target that came to fruition in 2024 in an epic, heated rut hunt! Ryan tells us the story and his history with this specific buck, and we talk whitetail management strategies, tactics, and how to hunt big bucks pre-rut, during the rut, and post rut!
