Here is the statistic: More than 1 in 4 older adults over 65 fall each year, and some of those falls lead to serious injuries. Do you want to be one of them? Falling is not a normal part of the aging process, however it’s more a consequence of how you treated your body and lived your life in the last 20 to 40 years. Sometimes, it’s the fear of falling that makes us avoid doing certain activities that require good health, which then could increase the risk for falls. This topic is very important to me, and probably also for other women who lost someone through falling. This episode is going to be an inspiration for anyone who wants to stay independent and be able to live an active lifestyle. My guest speaker on this show is Debbie Gorzycki, and she is an amazing expert about how to prevent falls and the risk of fractures that can lead to long-term disability. She has vast experience teaching fall prevention classes and gained a wealth of insights and learnings. She is so passionate about sharing all she knows that the show is much longer than usual. But well worth it! I encourage you to make time to listen, and then change your future by taking action. Go for a walk and find out how you can improve your mobility and balance. You will thank us later when you become more confident and know how to stay in shape and reduce the risk for falls for you and others. The best way to follow Debbie and get more valuable tips, exercises, and ways to prevent falls is to check out her Facebook page; Debbie for Fall Prevention.
