This Sunday we will celebrate Father’s Day. St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus, is the perfect role model. He was the epitome of a faithful father: loving, kind, obedient and generous, a pillar of strength and support. As we remember all fathers, living and deceased, may we also be mindful of the courage, and stability they bring to families, in both good times and in those times which prove challenging. Fathers have an instinctive ability to offer direction when needed, correction when warranted, and instruction when required. Pope Francis reminds us that every family needs a father – a father who shares his family’s joys and pains, hands down wisdom to his children, and offers them firm guidance and love.
