Today we are in Hebrews 11 or as some call it “The Hall of Faith”. We often study this passage in isolation and can sometimes misunderstand what God wants from us when we do. But when we study this passage in the context with the rest of Hebrews, it brings new insight into what it means to hold fast to faith.

Hebrews 9 points us to the truth that Jesus is the more and better sacrifice. He is the more and better Tabernacle. For us in the 21st century, these phrases may not mean much, but to the Jewish readers of this letter, it was a powerful reminder of the finality of Jesus' sacrifice that secured eternal redemption once for all.

Hebrews 2 starts with a warning: pay close attention to what you have heard. It is because the author knows our propensity to forget. We need to be reminded of the truths of the gospel every day. We need to remember the truth of why Jesus came here in the first place and what a miracle His birth really was. He suffered and intervened on our behalf, making propitiation for our sins and running to our aide when we could not save ourselves.
