In this deeply honest episode, Jo shares why your self-talk matters—especially when you're stepping into vulnerability and visibility.
Using a personal stories she breaks down:
Why we carry an inner critic: Contrived to keep us safe, it shows up when we're doing something new or scary—like standing on a board in the sea.
How old identities hold you back: Joelle recalls her younger self, so self-conscious she would avoid swim class—symptomatic of wounded identity loops.
The power of real-time awareness: Instead of defaulting to criticism, she paused mid-fall, asked herself, “What story am I telling?”, and chose empowerment over shame.
Steps to shift into your emergent self:
Spot when you’re acting from wounded places
Keep asking "Who am I without my labels?"
Upgrade your self-talk with compassion and truth
Big Takeaway: Every moment gives you a choice—stay small in the wounded self, or step into the powerful, loving adult you’re becoming. And yes, shifting your self‑talk actually lands in your body when it’s consistent and intentional.

Hey love,
How many times have you said yes to something you wanted to say no to?
And how many times have you blamed yourself?
Here’s the thing: when you’re carrying self-judgement you can listen to all the podcasts, read all the books and do all the ‘things’ but love - it’s not going to feel good.
Learning to say no isn’t about berating yourself for all of the times you haven’t had boundaries, or you’ve chosen other people’s needs above you own. It about saying: ok, I didn’t have these tools before. Now I know I’ll choose differently.
Be kind to yourself, always.
On this week’s episode I share why is so hard to say no - even when our body and mind is screaming at us to - how to look at it as the most loving thing you can do and actual things to say to.
Our nervous system sees anything it doesn’t know as threat, especially when it comes to not being part of the ‘pack’.
So it’s really ok if this feels comfortable.
It’s also ok if you’re default has been freeze or appease - both biological responses.
You still got it.
You can still experience something new.
I’d love to know what lands, what surprises you and what you’re committing to - hit reply and let me know.
Thanks for being here and being you.
All my love,
Jo

Here’s a powerful truth: You’re allowed to want what you want—without guilt, shame, or second-guessing.
But let’s be real...
✨ Do you secretly fear your dreams are too big, too selfish, or too unrealistic?✨ Do you freeze or flee when you imagine the life you could have?✨ Do you keep your desires hidden because deep down, you don’t trust they’re possible for you?
I see you—because I was you.
For years, I lived in “hope mode,” not on purpose. And even when things did go right—dream jobs, amazing friends, beautiful home—I couldn’t let the goodness land. Why? Because I was stuck in the belief that something was wrong with me.
In this episode, I share the shift that changed everything: from surviving to creating, from shrinking to claiming.
Tune in to learn how to:💥 Stop bypassing your desires💥 Break free from fear-based patterns💥 Trust that your deepest longings are not random—they're divine guidance
You’ll also reflect on powerful questions like:🔥 What if your desires are sacred, not selfish?🌿 Where are you making yourself small to be "enough"?⚡ Could discomfort be a sign of growth—not a reason to give up?
If you’re ready to stop waiting and start claiming the life that’s meant for you—this episode is for you.
Thanks for tuning in. You are powerful AF.

Hey beautiful soul,
Do you ever find yourself behaving in a way that doesn’t make sense to your rational mind?
The why I can’t just… (be happy, make this easy, do things like other people) voices?
If so, it could be that a younger part of you is acting up - or even running the show. It’s why you might find yourself obsessing over something, unable to take the next step or making decisions that aren’t in your best interests.
When I discovered inner child work everything in my world shifted, because the beliefs I held so deeply about myself - that I was broken, unloveable and that there was something wrong with me – became something I could question.
Your inner teenager is a real psychological concept - part of you frozen in time, holding on to beliefs about who they are and who they need to be.
In this episode I share…
* All the juicy personal details of why this kind of work is so profound
* How to know if your inner teenager is running the show
* Practical ways to connect with and begin to nurture this part of you
* One thing you can do to soothe this part of you straight away
I hope it’s valuable for you and would love to know your breakthroughs, a-has and takeaways - hit reply or drop me a DM with what shows up for you.
All my love,
Jo
Hey love,
On Monday morning, I had a moment.
I was walking through my favourite park in Lisbon, swallows calling each other in the blue sky on my way to my coffee shop of choice to work for the morning.
And I thought: holy s**t.
This is my life.
There’s no office to get to.
There’s no school bell to rush in for.
I’m literally going to order an oat latte, serve my clients and write about things I care about.
I MADE the life I wanted. I didn’t just talk about it. I didn’t just daydream about it.
I did it.
A life in which I’m constantly learning and growing.
A life in a city I love.
A life full of new people and still deeply connected to the relationships that matter to me.
A life where my business works with and for me, not against it (hello two days in the Algarve with my nieces this week).
If you could have told me at twenty, me at thirty that this is what I’d be doing I’d have been…in awe.
And I like to think of her, that young woman who was always in such a rush, always early to everything, so keen to prove herself, so full of doubt.
Because it’s easy to forget how far we’ve come.
It’s easy to take it all for granted.
It’s easy - still - to write it off as unremarkable.
And that’s just not how I choose to roll.
I love my life and know you can create exactly what you want in yours too. Yes, it takes work.
But it’s not the hustle that will get you there.
It’s been willing to look yourself in the eye and go where you need to go to truly believe in and love yourself enough. To heal at the deepest level. To consistently make decisions from vision and power, not fear.
And to learn how to hold it all in your nervous system, so that it feels as magical as it is (not like you’re having a breakdown every two minutes).
You get to want more.
Then, you get to make it happen.
All my love,
Jo

Hey beautiful soul,
Have you ever experienced the feeling that life is against you?
Maybe like me you’ve been on the bathroom floor saying things like it’s so easy for everyone else and why is this happening to me.
This is what we call victim mindset, like there is one great creator who is handing out great things to some, and terrible things to others.
The thing about that theory? It’s a surefire way to lose your power.
Today’s episode gives you one incredible tool to take it back.
As you listen ask yourself:
What would be different if I choose to believe that everything was happening for me?
What if I looked at life like as a gift for my growth?
I’d love to know what lands - even if it’s complete resistance to this concept.
And remember this - if you believe that life is treating you unfairly you also believe in the concept of ‘fair’ and, perhaps more deeply, that there is something wrong with you, you’re not enough and you don’t deserve good things.
In coaching that is where we go, and what we heal.
Thanks for being here, and being you.
All my love,
Jo
Hey beautiful one,
If you’ve hit play I’m guessing you want to be kinder to you.
What an incredible intention - and one I know we can all achieve.
How?
Because I’ve lived it. And in this week’s episode, I share the five-minute tool that changed my life.
It’s for you if…
you know you’re really tough on yourself
you struggle to feel good
you’re done with beating yourself up
you love the idea of self-compassion but find yourself in critical loops that keep you stuck
you don’t know where to start
It’s not exaggeration when I say when I did this practice my whole life shifted.
It created an opening I’d never experienced before. And the best part? It takes five minutes. It’s one that you can truly make yours and come back to again and again.
Because here’s the thing: the way you talk to yourself matters, so talk to yourself like you matter.
Thanks for being here and being you; if you care to share I’d love to know what lands.
With so much love,
Jo
Hello beautiful soul,
I don’t know about you but I’ve found myself in brutal cycles of comparison before.
And the worst part? They pull me so fully away from the present moment.
The moments that matter.
My actual life.
And the thing is, it’s a cop-out. Comparing ourselves actually means we get to sit back and tell stories about how other people have it all together whilst avoiding taking full responsibility for what we want to create in our own lives.
It’s an easy out.
And I know it can feel hard to break when you’re really in the cycle.
So, my love, this week’s episode gives you practical tools you can use to stop yourself comparing and start living and appreciating exactly where you’re at.
I know that’s a big promise, but give them a try.
Would love to know what lands.
All my love,
Jo
Welcome to the next evolution of Feels Like Magic, my first video episode. I was going to talk about something else in it, but the truth is this came up: putting out a video felt uncomfortable.
I already teach on video, record for other people’s containers on video, post videos on Instagram, but something about this felt different.
But with this one my nervous system wasn’t on board.
And here’s the thing: we can say we want something, but unless we’re willing to show up to that thing and take action even when it feels uncomfortable we’re just going round in circles.
As you listen consider…
* Where are the events and conditions of the past playing out in your present?
* How are you taking care of your body as you move through change? Do you listen to it’s signals or override them?
* What is the action you’re not quite ready for but you’re going to step into any way? (As my mentor Preston Smiles would say: ready is not a feeling, it’s a decision.)
I’d love to know what lands and the stretchy, uncomfortable thing you’re ready to do.
Thanks for being here and being you,
All my love,
Jo
