Fight Disciples Podcast

If Jiri Prochazka is not your new favourite UFC fighter then what the hell are you doing here?!

The man from the Czech Republic put on a sensational performance against former title challenger Dominick Reyes to announce himself as the next inline for gold at Light Heavyweight.

We talk about the weird ending to Diego Sanchez's relationship with the UFC and look ahead to a fight night this weekend that currently doesn't have a main event.

As the manner in which to win a world title go, Sunny Edwards putting on a masterclass against Moruti Mthalane is a fine example.

From start to finish the young Brit put on a masterclass and introduced himself to the elite level of world boxing.

We also talk about Katie Taylor vs Natasha Jonas and what a fight like that does for women's boxing and where do we go with Parker/Chisora.

After all that we preview the fight you've all been waiting for as Billy Joe Saunders attempts to topple the P4P king that is Canelo Alvarez.

The greatest card of all time?

Recency bias?

Whatever.

UFC261 lived up to and then exceeded all our expectations at the weekend delivering stellar moment after stellar moment.

Is Kamaru Usman the P4P number 1?  Is Can anybody beat Valentina at 125?  Is that the most horrific injury you've ever seen?

And that's just the UFC!  Brendan Loughnane did the business in the PFL too!!

All this and more on this weeks show.

There's plenty of fantastic things to talk about from the weekends boxing and we most certainly do but for us enough is enough when it comes to shocking score cards from British judges.

Once again at the weekend we saw an absolute howler and it needs addressing because nobody comes out of this looking good.

Following on from this discussion we talk about a great performance from Felix Cash, it being great to have Callum Johnson back in business and what lies ahead this week on the boxing scene.

The fans are back this weekend in Florida for UFC 261 and there's three world title fights to preview.

Ahead of all that though we have to wax lyrical about Robert Whittaker's flawless performance against Kelvin Gastelum and how a second fight with Israel Adesanya may be very different to the first.

Lets go...

What a mad weekend for boxing.

Jake Paul made more money fighting Ben Askren than an actual world champion defending his belt on Saturday night??!!

With robots on ring walks and intoxicated legends stealing the headlines it may have passed the casual eyes attention that a real world title fight took place in the middleweight division.

Demetrius Andrade look the best he's ever looked, for all of six minutes, before ambling through to a wide points decision victory over Liam Williams.

We had a weird stoppage preventing Regis Prograis with a KO victory and a Youtuber sparked a Wrestler inside 2 minutes.

We round up all the weekends action  and look ahead to the action over the next 7 days.

It was supposed to be the moment that the middleweight division got themselves a new contender for Israel Adesanya but Marvin Vettori didn't read the script.

Yes, he won.  Is anybody high on the fact he should be next for a title shot?  Instead all eyes turn to this weekends showcase between Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum.

We review the whole weeks MMA.

There is not a fighter in world boxing developing at such a rapid rate as Conor Benn.

We discuss what might be next for Britains next PPV star.

Also on the show, Savannah Marshall vs Claressa Shields is the fight to make, Courtenay vs Bridges gave us a smile for all the right reasons, Joe Smith completes the dream and Jaron Ennis is a real problem for the big boys at 147.

We also have a little prediction on the AJ vs Fury fight announcement which many say is imminent.

This weekend Liam Williams fights Demetrius Andrade so we preview that as well as the circus  that is Jake Paul vs Ben Askren.
