Fight Disciples Podcast

It's been a horrible year for Jamel Herring.

He contracted COVID, which has seen his scheduled fight with Jonathan Oquendo fall through twice, and when they finally get into the ring in Top Rank's Las Vegas Bubble at the weekend, his opponent decided to stick the nut on him all night.

There's plenty of questions to answer in the aftermath of which we debate on this week's show as well as looking back at a fantastic European title fight in the UK between Samir Ziani and Alex Dilmaghani.

All that, plus we also look ahead to this weekend's action involving light heavyweight star Anthony Yarde.

Georges St Pierre's legacy is assured but would the ultra competitive Canadian be able to turn down the lure of another weight category and the prospect of defeating the undefeated?

Do you want to see a super fight between him and Khabib?

We discuss that and much more from the UFC world this week.

Boxing is slowly getting back to delivering the fights we all expect but we're not completely there yet.

We had a week of mixed action with the best fights coming from foreign shores.  A belter from down under and cracker in the Top Rank bubble outshone anything that we had to offer on British soil.

We go through everything that happened including the importance of Dubois vs Joyce with or without fans.

The biggest story in the mixed martial arts this week was that Jon Jones has relinquished the Light Heavyweight title and announced that he will be moving to Heavyweight for his next fight.

We get stuck into the possible opponents 'Bones' may face and, of course, we look back at the best of the week's action from inside the Octagon and beyond.

What a finale to 'Fight Camp'

Dillian Whyte looked comfortable in his fight with Alexander Povetkin before the Russian detonated a signal shot that reverberated around the boxing world.

Katie Taylor showed just how good a boxer she really is in her rematch with Delfine Persoon which once again had us on the edge of our seats.

Boxing felt big again.

We pick through all the weeks action.

There is no debate, Stipe Miocic is the best UFC Heavyweight of all time.

A heavyweight trilogy littered with eye pokes concluded at UFC252 with the Cleveland native having is hand raised and which saw Daniel Cormier ride off into retirement defeated.

The co-main event ended in a disappointing fashion as injury brought halt to Sean O'Malley's rise.

We discuss the whole card and preview all the weeks major talking points.

This week is a real acid test for British boxing.  Are the fans ready for a PPV?  Is the one we are being asked to pay for good enough for us to part with our hard earned cash?

Dillian Whyte takes on serial drug cheat Alexander Povetkin in the 4th edition of fight camp this Saturday night.  The real main event for us though is the rematch between Katie Taylor and Delphine Persoon.

As well as previewing the event we look back at the fights from the weekend involving Carl Frampton and Michael Conlan as well as getting a bit excited over Dennis McCann.

All the latest Boxing news is discussed too.

The greatest Heavyweight in UFC history will be decided in Las Vegas this weekend at UFC 252.

Will Daniel Cormier go out in style or will he be forever known as second best?
How much has that eye injury effected the champion Stipe Miocic?

We preview the whole card as well as looking back at a stellar night of fights the weekend previous.

The time to stop patronising female boxers is right now.

We all want the sport to grow further and parity is paramount to that.  We discuss the need to extend the timing per round by 60 seconds which surely would lead to more viral moments.

As well as that we discuss the scoring of the fight between Harper and Jonas and preview all this weeks upcoming action.

Wow. After a dozen fights fell off the UFC's return to the Apex on Saturday night it's remarkable we even had a fight card to get stuck into, but Derek Brunson made up for any shortcomings on the abbreviated card with a chilling reminder that he's not stepping stone.

All the talk was about previously unbeaten Edmen Shahbazyan in the build up, but the 22-year-old caught a reminder that this is boxing and not MMA by having his freight train derailed by the man 14 years his senior.

Nick and guest co-presenter Dan Hardy get giddy about the rest of the makeshift card too, before looking ahead to this weekend's heavyweight main event and offering more than two cents on the exciting potential of British heavyweight Tom Apsinall and the sensation that is Khamzat Chamaev.
