  • 553 – The Last House, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma

This week, David can’t make it, but we have three hosts and three movies to review. First, Patches and Da7e dig into the Netflix sci-fi trapped-in-your-house movie The Last House (Spoilers!). then, Patches and Da7e revive some Republic City Dispatch talk to discuss Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, a movie streaming on Paramount Plus. Then, Katey rejoins the podcast to discuss Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma with Da7e. What are we, a movie podcast?

  • 552 – Spider-Man: Brand New Day

This week, whoops, there’s a new biggest movie in theaters and this one is setting records. Matt Patches and Katey Rich were unable to catch Spider-Man: Brand New Day in theaters, but Katey shows up to referee a discussion between Davids, one Ehrlich who did not like Brand New Day as much as one Da7e who thought it’s a new kind of Spider-Man installment that points towards some good tidings in Marvel’s immediate future. Will they return next week with a single topic show? Not intentionally, but don’t count us out.

  • 551 – The Odyssey Review

This week, everyone is back in the War Room and not on vacation with multiple children and everyone has seen The Odyssey! We figured it was about time that we devoted an episode of one of TIME Magazine’s Best Podcasts of All Time to this all-timer cinematic experience (that nevertheless has nitpicks our hosts will nitpick). That’s all we had to talk about to fill a whole episode. MAKE SURE YOU’VE SEEN THE ODYSSEY FIRST IF YOU CARE ABOUT SPOILERS.

    • 549 – A Bad Year For Console Gaming, Minions and Monsters, The Invite

This week, David can’t make it to the War Room, but is locked in with the rest of the hosts for next week’s QUARTER QUELL – 1976. On this episode, Da7e has questions for Patches about the no-good-very-bad news for the console gaming industry over the past couple of weeks. Then, Katey reports on Minions and Monsters, which sounds fun but is underperforming at the box office. Then, Katey and Da7e talk about The Invite, expanding to more theaters this weekend and though since they disclose the premise the trailer is hinting at, consider it LIGHT SPOILERS, I guess.

BACK NEXT WEEK WITH EPISODE 550, HE TYPES, JINXING THEM ALL.

    • 548 – Supergirl, CATS: The Jellicle Ball, Toy Story 5

This week, everyone is back in the War Room, but David is very tired. Somehow, Supergirl is out this weekend and no one besides Da7e was planning to see it, so Da7e took that bullet for Patches, Katey and David. Then, Katey talks about seeing CATS: The Jellicle Ball, a new take on a “classic” and shames David for leaving a wedding without dancing. Finally, everyone who had kids brought them to Toy Story 5, which everyone enjoyed but Patches LOVED.

    • 547 – The Death of Robin Hood, Patches didn’t see Disclosure Day, Disclosure Day

This week, all four hosts are back in the War Room (but still no guests). David, Da7e, and Katey discuss the new Hugh Jackman-starring The Death Of Robin Hood which is violent and melancholy. Then, Patches didn’t get to see Disclosure Day because of a malfunctioning IMAX projector but he did watch Heavenly Creatures at 5AM. Finally, your hosts that did see Disclosure Day (FULL SPOILERS) dig into it, with 2/3rds of the reviewers more positive than the remaining third.

    • 546 – Getting Paid For Obsession, Ocarina of Time in 2026, Widow’s Bay

This week, it was David’s turn to be felled by solo-parenting, so Katey, Patches, and Da7e convene in the War Room. First, an Instagram post from the art director of surprise hit Obsession intended to spur discussion about profit sharing and her low pay on the movie. For better or for worse, Da7e and Patches leap into that discussion. Then, Da7e and Patches try to explain to Katey how her Zelda-obsessed children are probably going to want to play the Switch 2 Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time coming this year. Finally, Katey and Patches have really been enjoying Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay and talk about the high points in anticipation of the upcoming season conclusion.

    • 545 – 90s Summer, Backrooms Revisited, Pressure, I Love Boosters

This week, Patches was felled by solo-parenting, so Katey, David, and Da7e make it to the war room. Katey found a puzzling post on threads and Da7e and David try to speculate about just what a “90s Summer” would have actually been. Then, David has since seen Backrooms as have (checks box office numbers) a LOT of you, so Ehrlich gets to throw his thoughts into the endless hallways. Then, in Segment Three, Katey wants to talk about Pressure (which is NOT the one about aliens, Da7e learns) and Da7e wants to talk about I Love Boosters, so they slam them into one segment without pausing for a music break.

    • 544 – Mandalorian and Grogu, Backrooms, What’s Wrong With American Dramas?

This week, everyone is back in the war room and the numbered episodes resume! David, Patches, and Katey took the families to Star Wars: Mandalorian and Grogu, so the show must finally give it a full review. We swear we’re done talking about this movie, David’s son didn’t even want to stay to the end of the movie. Then, Da7e reports from having seen Backrooms and doesn’t spoil anything, if the movie explains anything, and if you know what Backrooms is at all. Finally, Patches has a big overarching question I have decided to summarize as “What’s Wrong with American Dramas?” because that’s a provocative part of it.
