Boomer Banter, Real Talk about Aging Well

Finding Hope Amidst Uncertainty, with Michelle Fishburne

Listen Later

My special guest on this episode is Michelle Fishburne.

Michelle Fishburne, has become a master of adapting to life's unexpected twists and turns/ She joined me on Hey, Boomer to share her inspiring journey of resilience and adaptability. After facing multiple setbacks, including a temporary loss of her hearing and balance, the loss of her job, and becoming an empty nester in the span of less than a year, Michelle decided to turn her life around by embarking on a cross-country adventure in her motorhome. Along the way, she documented the stories of everyday Americans and their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in her compelling book, "Who We Are Now."

With a keen eye for storytelling and a passion for connecting with others, Michelle's insights are both enlightening and inspiring for those facing uncertainty and striving for adaptability in their own lives.

Michelle Fishburne embarked on a journey across the United States during the pandemic in her motor home, driven by a sense of curiosity and a desire to rediscover the nation she thought she knew. As she interviewed strangers and listened to their stories of hope, resilience, and love, Michelle realized that the country's true spirit was not as divided as it seemed.

Reflect on the question Michelle Fishburne asked her interviewees: "It's January 1, 2020. What was your 2020 supposed to be like, and what did it end up being like through to the present?"
