What have you been dreaming about? Maybe it's a new dream,  or maybe it's been sitting in your heart for years..   I once heard that we don't choose our desires. They choose us. They're made for us and meant to be fulfilled by us.  But too often  our thoughts  stop us.  They bring up all kinds of excuses that delay our dreams until another day. One way to conjure up the courage that's inside of you is to look back at what you've already accomplished. 

Now look back to when you first had that dream. 

  Did you have any idea how you would accomplish it? 

 Not likely,  but something inside of you stepped up and made it happen.  At the onset, we have no idea. It's just a dream.  And we take action.  We can't possibly know all the ways it'll evolve because it hasn't happened yet.

I share examples from my own life and also a practice to help you make that dream a reality.

Midweek, I like to offer you a thought to shift your mindset, maybe question your beliefs or  simply wake you up.  So my thought for you today is, what are you rushing to get to? Have you ever thought about it? 

Recently I was making a cup of tea, and I rushed to open the teabag, rushed to fill the kettle, rushed to make breakfast.

I didn't even have to go to work that day.  But if I did, Why was I rushing?  

When we rush, we're making the next moment more important than the current one. 

Once I realized what I was doing, I asked myself, Where was I rushing to get to?  You know what? I didn't have an answer.   

Moving quickly was simply a habit, an unconscious habit, which was the result of sleepwalking through my day.

Amber and I had the most beautiful conversation about what's possible in this lifetime. She shares that she couldn't have discovered  the amazing life she now lives without going through her many hardships, starting at a young age.

At 12, she had to leave her father's house when he got cancer. She moved in with her mom and had no supervision. Her younger sister soon joined her there and that's when Amber took on the role of parent when she was still a child herself. She shares about losing her dad, having a miscarriage and other challenges.

Sheri shares her family's arduous journey through kidney disease. Her son Christopher  was born with kidney disease and he's battled it his entire life.  She shares all that needed to be done to support him, including a transplant. 

Steeped in her faith, compassionate with a spark of humor,  Sheri went from newlywed to grateful mother to unexpected medical mom, and now a first time author. She finds joy in her family, friends, gardening, and community service. Known as the ringmaster of her family circus, Sheri is always up to hosting family get togethers or game night for a few laughs.

My thought for you today  comes from Geri Bose of "Living your Life in Awe" Podcast. When we complain or blame we give our power away to that person. In this episode I share how I started to blame my husband for something I couldn't find in the kitchen. In the middle of blaming him and complaining (in my head), I heard Geri's voice and immediately stopped. All the energy I had been putting into blaming and complaining returned to me in an instant.

Her dad was an addict and as such Shauna grew up very fast. For much of her young life, she felt unsafe in her own home.  Their home was broken into more than seven times, and they took everything, including the plastic jewelry from her jewelry box.   She talks about what it was like being a kid. And while life was hard, she shares how they found joy and laughter.  She also shares how she got to have a relationship with her dad, but how her forgiveness had to happen after his death. 

How do you forgive someone who's no longer here to accept that forgiveness. Shauna tells us how she did it.  This conversation is so rich. She  offers advice to parents going through similar situations and how they can help their kids. She  also shares  what to do when you feel burnt out as a single parent.

Quadriplegic since 16 when a driver ran a red light, and slammed into his passenger side door, Pat is a single dad to his pre-teen daughter, runs a successful woodworking business, called “Keep it Pushin Woodwork,” selling intricate cutting boards worldwide, and inspires people every day on social media. He’s gained over 150K followers and over 15 million views. 

 In 2017, at the age of 33, Pat changed his life around after participating in a self-development program. Through the program, he came to fully accept himself and started sharing his woodworking creations and experiences with others. Rather than focusing on what he couldn’t do because of quadriplegia, he focused on the 100 things he can do.

Pat became a single dad almost overnight when his daughter was 15 months old. He shares how he had to practice getting his baby in her car seat and his wheelchair in the car without hitting her in the head. He said he went out to his car and he practiced it at least 50 times to get it right.
