Once you think you've escaped the rabbit hole the boys pull you right back in! We get a big life update from Andrew, seems like he's going to get a taste of what Cam was doing back in Illinois. Cam and Andrew go over some of the misguiding information that can be displayed on the internet that too many people fall for; sometimes you have to go back to the basics and create what Andrew calls a 'firm foundation'. The internet is a fantastic tool with a lot of information but there is also a lot of crap on it as well, the boys give you some of their favorite online resources for health and fitness, they went through all the B.S. so you don't have to!
The final installment of the first portion of Fired Up Friday is here! Focus is an interesting term and much like these other protocols, it can have multiple meanings. When aligned with things like relentlessness or dedication, focus can be a powerful tool for staying on task and completing objectives. What are we needing to focus on this week and weekend? What distractions do we need to eliminate for success?
In this episode Cam and Andrew take some of the biggest myths told about fitness and spank em! From when cardio is appropriate to workout intensity to supplements; the boys give their take on what's BS and what is truth.
It's Friday and you know what that means, it's time to get fired up! This week the boys talk about the second protocol, determination. Determination is the mental attribute that causes someone to methodically analyze the way they will achieve their goal. Determination comes at the beginning of your goal and leads to the actions required of you to get there. Next time you have a goal write out what it is going to take to get there and the actual steps you will take in order to achieve your goal. After that, it's time to get after it!
What does real change look like? What does real successful change look like? The difference usually lies with consistency and execution. The boys go into a number of different topics, as always, with change really being the main factor. Cam officially lives in Michigan and the new swing of things is underway. The boys also get pretty authentic in talking about what is going on with their lives, stress, work, etc.
Take away from this one: focus on the things you can control today - give yourself more leverage than you believe you have. Control your life and make things happen. Change!
The boys are back at it with episode eight out of ten on the Protocol10 series! Dedication is a term that a lot of us hear and use regularly, but what are we truly dedicated to? Dedication in itself can be defined as a mixture of a few of the other ten protocols to success, consistency and sacrifice, relentlessness and focus, and even more than that. Like many other protocols, dedication is one of the terms that needs a few components in order to be defined. One of the key terms that we talk about here is rapport - not a protocol at all but a great insight by Cam. In order to truly be perceived as dedicated by ourselves or our peers, we need to build rapport in that thing we are dedicated to - we need to prove it. What are you truly dedicated to these days? And what are you just saying you're dedicated to?
It's time to talk about good ole' fashion integrity! Cam and Andrew have talked about this topic before but in this episode they look at it in a different light. Often times people talk about integrity relating to what they choose to do; the boys also talk about how integrity is about what you choose not to do! Cam mentions how some of the small things he used to do started a snowball effect of him losing a lot of discipline in other aspects of life. When you feel like your discipline is unraveling, return to the small things you can do everyday to get back on track.
Some people complain during low points and say, "I'm just not feeling motivated lately." People who say that have a fundamental misunderstanding of what motivation is. Motivation can be fleeting; motivation can come and go in an instant. However, motivation is what gets you started. It is what gets the ball rolling. Where we tend go wrong is when we depend on motivation to keep the ball rolling. The boys also go over the difference between motivation through the negative or not wanting something and motivation through the positive or wanting to achieve a certain goal; is one better than the other? Give a listen to find out what Cam and Andrew think! the challenge for this weekend is to write down what we don't want in life as well as what we do want, and to also go over this past week and find circumstances where we were not motivated and let it get the best of us. What led up to that circumstance and prevent it from happening again in the week to come!
