Jesus told a Samaritan woman that if she knew about the gift of God, she could receive something that would cause her to never thirst again. The Holy Ghost of which He spoke is the greatest gift ever given to humankind. This same Spirit of God that will indwell the believer is the answer to all of life’s problems.

The bonds in the lives of many are a result of a spirit of unforgiveness in their heart. Forgiveness, as outlined in Jesus’ prayer to “forgive as we forgive,” is not optional. No matter how badly we have been mistreated, we must find forgiveness in our hearts so that we ourselves may be free.

God has a certain covering that is required of His people - one that was used both in the Tabernacle and in the covering of the nakedness of Adam and Eve. It is clear that man’s idea of being covered is not equivalent to being covered in God’s sight. Our bodies should be modestly covered so that the attention of others can be drawn to what is within us, not without.

The decisions that each of us make during our time on this earth will determine where we spend our eternity. The Word tells us in Acts that Judas Iscariot went to his own place - the place to which his own actions led him. Therefore, there is a responsibility in the life of each individual to make their eternal destiny certain by choosing to follow after the commandments of God.

The Scriptures speak very explicitly of the importance of both inward and outward holiness. One issue specifically addressed is the wearing of items that reflect inner pride and immodesty. The “gold” in our lives should be found on the inside, that is, a spirit that is in alignment with God’s Word and is truly Christ-like.

The story of Esther reveals many truths that will strengthen the life of the modern-day believer. We read of a bride who was protected by the King, of a people brought through great adversity, and of an adversary who suffered a great defeat just when he thought he’d won the battle. Let us never forget that even in the darkness of the midnight hour, our King is still awake, and He’s still in control.

Salvation is, first and foremost, an example of God’s kindness to man. In His kindness, He doesn’t leave us in our sin, but by His grace He lifts us out. As God has been kind to us, let us also be kind to those around us as the ambassadors of God’s Kingdom of Kindness.

The commonly referenced story of Jesus feeding thousands with a mere five loaves and two fish has in it a hidden question: who was it that had with them the empty baskets? There were, apparently, several people who came with a spirit of expectation. This is an attitude that we should mirror when we come into the house of God - that we are expecting to receive and take the Word home with us.

When Jesus begins to transform the life of a sinner, there must always be a change that takes place. This is the process of sanctification, as God begins to purify the lives of those who formerly lived contrary to His Word. This hope of eternal life and the associated change will not be accepted by many, but those who can hold onto hope will be saved from their sin.
