This week we’re joined by Hannah Grieser, author of The Clouds Ye So Much Dread. The Clouds Ye So Much Dread is a beautiful blend of memoir, theology, meditation, and storytelling. Each of these chapters–from dreading the birth of her first child, to living in unfamiliar and dangerous places, to facing the news that her son had been diagnosed with cancer–describes the stories through which Hannah has come to see that hard or uncertain circumstances, rather than being cause for doubt and dread, can instead become the unasked-for means that our loving Father uses to turn us toward Him and to show us His faithfulness. Told in Hannah’s graceful yet punchy prose, the reflections in this powerful book will challenge readers to revisit their own hard times and see how God can take the storms that we most fear and turn them into downpours of blessings.
In CrossPolitic news, we discuss the recent FISA memo, all the shenanigans surrounding PI Christopher Steele, and Rand Paul’s resistance to the Senate’s proposed budget that was passed this last week.

This week we’re joined by Fox and Friends host Brian Kilmeade. Brian just released his fifth book, Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans, co-written with Don Yaeger.
The War of 1812 saw America threatened on every side. Encouraged by the British, Indian tribes attacked settlers in the West, while the Royal Navy terrorized the coasts. By mid-1814, President James Madison’s generals had lost control of the war in the North, losing battles in Canada. Then British troops set the White House ablaze, and a feeling of hopelessness spread across the country.
Into this dire situation stepped Major General Andrew Jackson. A native of Tennessee who had witnessed the horrors of the Revolutionary War and Indian attacks, he was glad America had finally decided to confront repeated British aggression. But he feared that President Madison’s men were overlooking the most important target of all: New Orleans.
In CrossPolitic news, we discuss DACA, what is it all about and what should the Christian response look like.

We had Dr. Jordan Peterson scheduled for the show today, but he had to cancel at the last minute. We think he needed to walk his dog or something. Don’t worry, his staff will be working with us to get him back on the show at a later date.
For this episode, we discussed Peterson’s worldview, the reasons for his quick rise to fame, and why he is dangerous.
In CrossPolitic news, we discuss Andrew White, an elder in the PCA who is running for Governor of Texas as a Democrat. We also discuss a smartphone app developed to create contracts for one night stands to ‘prove’ sex is consensual.

This week we’re joined by pastor and chef Francis Foucachon. Food is not just fuel for our bodies. It is about community and family relationships, it is about beauty and flavors, it is about God-given pleasure and art. Francis’ book Food for Thought shares a collection of delicious personal recipes and sage counsel for readers considering the restaurant business.
Francis has a trio of passions–his faith, his family, and his food. He was trained to become a chef in the elite world of gastronomy in Lyon, France before being trained as a minister of the Gospel at the Reformed Seminary in Aix-en-Provence. He worked as a chef in France and Switzerland, and later created his own high-end restaurant in the USA. He was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America in 1987, and ministered as a church planter in France and in Quebec for 24 years. Francis now works with Huguenot Heritage in partnership with Third Millennium Ministries. He and his wife Donna have five children.
In CrossPolitic news, we discuss New Jersey governor Phil Murray, passion for states’ rights, California’s governor prosecuting any business who helps the feds with immigration sweeps, and Missouri’s health and wellness surveys for sixth graders.
