I appreciate it.KELLEN COLEMAN:What pushed you to step into politics?BERNARD TAYLOR:Working as a firefighter and growing up here, I see people struggling every day. Folks are working multiple jobs just to survive. Our government prioritizes people at the top while working families are left behind. I got tired of only helping in emergencies. I wanted to make change at a higher level, so I decided to be the representation I wish we had.This is a true grassroots campaign. We’re not the biggest fundraisers, but we’re in the community listening. I’m not taking any dirty money. I like my soul the way it is.KELLEN COLEMAN:What are people responding to most about your campaign?BERNARD TAYLOR:They appreciate my authenticity. I’m not scripted, and I don’t have consultants telling me what to say. People feel unheard, especially in underserved communities. I want them to know they’ll have a congressman who listens and puts people first.KELLEN COLEMAN:What are your top priorities if elected?BERNARD TAYLOR:Healthcare is a major priority. I believe we need to move toward universal healthcare. I also want to bring trade programs back into high schools so students can graduate with certifications and access good-paying jobs.
