The story of Eva Clarke’s birth at the gates of Mauthausen concentration camp on the 29th April 1945 is an incredible story of survival against the odds. It is also a symbol of the defeat of the Nazis. They had wanted to eradicate Jewish life from the Earth and yet, a day before Hitler committed suicide in his forlorn bunker, here was a new life, a product of love. Eva, back in Austria at the age of 80 to commemorate the victims of the Nazis, told Chris Cummins about her family story.
