Throughout the recording of the history of the world found in the Old Testament, God had provided glimpses into the nature of the Messiah Redeemer who was to come. Hence, when Christ was born there should have been no surprise as to Who Jesus was and what His sacrificial role would be. In John 20:29 we read Jesus stating to Thomas, �because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.� We, who live 2,000 years since the death, burial and resurrection of Christ accept, by faith, the validity and veracity of the gospel account recorded throughout the Scriptures. The greatest illustration of the love of God expressed in the sacrificial offering of His Son is the account of the testing of the faith of Abraham. Through Abraham's willingness to heed God's call to offer his son, his only son, whom he loved to Him as a sacrifice we see God's tremendous love for us. ...
