It’s the very 61st episode of Forsaken Cinema!!! Are you freaks having trust issues yet?? We apologize yet again for the unannounced absence last week. We both had some important family things come up, and life, and scheduling, and yada yada yada. It’s been a rough summer, what can we say… Anyways, you know what’s not rough? Smooth things! In this episode, we take a deep dive into the watery horror film from 1979, “Screamers” (aka “Island of the Fishman”). If you enjoy trashy films from yesteryear, cheesy looking monster fishmen, and lotsa 70’s hair, then you’ll probably enjoy it as much as we did! Although, Mel did take some issue with the pacing, and Chuck probably liked it a little more than a normal person should. We do end up recommending it and discuss several other films from the prolific Italian director Sergio Martino as well. 

Hopefully we’re back for good and maybe next time we’re going to miss an episode, we’ll even put something on Instagram to let you know. Enjoy the episode, ya freaks!!!

It’s the very 58th episode of Forsaken Cinema Podcast!!! And yes, we’re back!! You can stop pinching yourself!! Seriously, stop. It’s weird… This week, we discuss the not-quite-so-recently-released film “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” and just how far away from good horror The Conjuring Universe has strayed. Yeah, we didn’t like it at all and we’re kinda not nice about it too. But fear not! We follow it up with a great conversation about the masterpiece that started it all, “The Conjuring”!! We have a great time discussing this contemporary classic and it’s modern day legendary director, James Wan. Seriously, as far as we’re concerned, the guy can do absolutely no wrong as far as horror goes. Creepy dolls, torture porn, demons - he never misses and we are very excited for his next project “Malignant” in which he’s taking on the giallo slasher genre. Anyways, this was such a fun episode and we’re so happy to be back talking to you freaks!!  We hope you dig it!!!

It’s the very 57th episode of Forsaken Cinema Podcast!!! This week, we sit our fine asses down to discuss the new John Krasinski joint “A Quiet Place 2”. And while neither of us thought it was really any better or worse than the first one, it does manage a “recommend” from both of your hosts for being a mostly entertaining PG13 monster flick, with only a couple of glaring plot holes, and maybe 1 or 2 head scratching character decisions. We also take a stroll down memory lane into the classic Dark Castle Entertainment film from 2001, “Thir13een Ghosts”!! And while we both are immensely entertained by this over the top, displaced-spiritual-energy-flick, we are NOT apologists. This movie is big, loud, flashy, pushy, and DUMB. But GODDAMMIT it’s a good time! Anyways, this is kind of a weird episode with some excessive side-tractions (remember when Melissa said that?), lots of off topic discussion, and an intro about lawn mowing that goes on way too long… But we had tons of fun and we hope you freaks do too!!!

It’s the very 56th episode of Forsaken Cinema Podcast!!! That’s right, you’re getting 2 episodes this week and we’re all caught up for May!! Hooray for us! Hooray for podcasts! Hooray for school! Anyways, this week, Chuck and Mel review the super, ultra, mega, blockbuster, Snyder, zombie, heist, action, horror flick, “Army of the Dead”! And we fucking hated it!! Ok, so there’s a handful of cool parts, and we both fell in love with Dieter, but if you know us AT ALL, you’ll definitely see our negative opinions coming. We also fast rope down into the hellish depths of the psychological thriller, “Jacob’s Ladder”. And while this amazing piece of 90’s what-the-fuck-is-actually-happening cinema left us with trace feelings of paranoia, depression, and anxiety, we manage to have a pretty fun and interesting convo about it anyways. And don’t get us wrong: we adore the shit out of this Tim-Robbins-lead mind-fuck, but it is not for the easily unhinged. So go listen, ya freaks!!! It’s a good one!

It’s the very 55th episode of Forsaken Cinema Podcast!!! This week, Mel and Chuck are joined by our friend Will and Sideshow Mike!! We get into the new film “The Djinn” and while it’s a competently made film with decent acting and a sorta cool premise, we all agreed that it just fell flat on it’s delivery and ultimately failed to go any further (figuratively or literally) than a little 2 bedroom apartment. We then get into Will and my favorite zombie movie “28 Days Later” and during our conversation, we learn that Sideshow Mike’s lifelong fear of zombies began with this film! Crazy. So this is a loooooong episode with lots of bunny trails and distractions, conversations about bidets, Melissa’s love for big red demon men, a small peek into Chuck’s weird childhood, and much much more. This week, Chuck and Mel sit down to discuss the new film “The Oak Room”, which Chuck refers to as an “incredibly well polished piece of shit”. Yeah. Spoilers, your hosts weren’t really into this one and Chuck gets mean. Again. Mid 2021 ain’t been looking so hot. BUT! We DO have a fun and maybe even educational conversation (I know, right? Wtf show is this??) about 1988’s “The Blob”. We talk about all the fun, gooey, gorey risks this movie took and why every risk taken makes this classic stand out not just as a remake, but in it’s own right as a beloved 80’s horror gem. There are plenty of side tractions, irreverent outbursts, and a most epic animal brawl as Melissa’s cats try to destroy each other while the referee dog, Meatball, attempts to break it up ON AIR! It’s the very 52nd episode of Forsaken Cinema Podcast!!! This week, we’re talking about the new Bigfoot flick, “Dawn of the Beast”. It’s not a very well made movie on most technical fronts, but that’s more than ok for Chuck who found it quite charming and entertaining. It is not quite as much ok for Melissa, who found it mostly terrible. We also discuss (and by discuss, we mean worship) the masterpiece that is “Mandy” starring Nic Cage in all his Rage Cage glory. We do acknowledge that some people find this film not so great, and some downright hate it... but we also acknowledge that those people are wrong and we invite them to come listen to us tell them all the reasons that they are indeed wrong. All in good fun, of course. Anyways, this is another long one and kind of a weird one (as you’ll hear in the first 10 minutes) but we had fun nonetheless and we hope you freaks dig it!!
