Torah Portion "'שמות/Shemot" which means "Names" delivered on December 25, 2021.This week's portion covers Exodus/Shemot 1:1-6:1 and begins, “And these are the names of the children of Yisra’ĕl who came to Mitsrayim with Ya‛aqoḇ, each one with his household:"This week's Torah portion brings us to the book of Exodus where we learn about the names of the sons of Israel.Pastor Richard teaches about the meaning of each of the twelve son's names. A name has great value because it is the reputation, the appraisal, and the appointment of his name.Pastor Richard shows that whenever authority is removed, through death, that the descents will also lose their connection to the land of inheritance, and will begin to embrace the customs of the land where they live. Torah Portion "'ויחי/Vayechi" which means "And he lived" delivered on December 18, 2021.This week's portion covers Genesis/Beresheet 47:28-50:26 and begins, “And Ya‛aqoḇ lived in the land of Mitsrayim seventeen years. So the length of Ya‛aqoḇ’s life was one hundred and forty-seven years."This week we finish the book of Genesis, and in our Torah portion we hear the blessings that Jacob gives to his twelve sons.Pastor Richard teaches us that Jacob shows us how we can live with darkness and death all around us, yet we can still show the world our light. As a light we do not hide it, we allow our light to shine. Pastor Richard asks, “Why does Hashem want us to gather together, and what is Hashem's purpose?” Gen.49:1-2 is the blueprint. Pastor Richard shows that the scepter never departs from Judah and how this means that the tribes follow this authority. He also shows that the legislation of our faith is with the Jews.What a loving Father! Torah Portion "'ויגש/Vayigash" which means "And he drew near" delivered on December 11, 2021.This week's portion covers Genesis/Beresheet 44:18-47:27 and begins, “And Yehuḏah came near to him and said, “O my master, please let your servant speak a word in my master’s hearing, and do not let your displeasure burn against your servant, for you are like Pharaoh."Our message today is for ALL Israel - ALL those within this faith. Pastor Richard teaches that the concept of the portion “Vayigash” is “will approach” or “draw near.” The deeper theme of the portion is the revealing of Messiah through Joseph, and the joining of the gentiles through Ephraim. Torah Portion "'מקץ/Miketz" which means "At the end" delivered on December 4, 2021.This week's portion covers Genesis/Beresheet 41:1-44:17 and begins, “And it came to be, at the end of two years’ time, that Pharaoh had a dream, and saw him standing by the river,"In our Torah portion today, we read that Pharaoh dreams a divine dream, a message that is meant for the world, but there is no power in Egypt that can interpret it for Pharaoh. Pastor Richard teaches that Joseph, through the interpretation of the dream given to him by Hashem, is then lifted out of the darkness of his slavery and elevated to a kingship role of authority in Egypt. Torah Portion "'וישב/Vayeshev" which means "And he dwelt" delivered on November 27, 2021. This week's portion covers Genesis/Beresheet 37:1-40:23 and begins, “And Ya‛aqoḇ dwelt in the land of his father’s sojournings, in the land of Kena‛an." Pastor Richard teaches that the sage Chassam Sofer explains that Abraham and Issac made converts while Jacob walked out the faith, revealing the light through his walk. Torah Portion "'וישלח/Vayishlach" which means "And he sent" delivered on November 20, 2021.This week's portion covers Genesis/Beresheet 32:3-36:43 and begins, “And Ya‛aqoḇ sent messengers before him to Ěsaw his brother in the land of Sĕ‛ir, the field of Eḏom"This week's Torah portion deals with us directly today. We are in the same battle as Esau and Jacob. Spiritually, we are returning to Israel. Pastor Richard teaches that Esau was a servant of the Torah because Esau knew it, but that Torah just wasn't the way that he wanted to live.Esau represents the world and when he goes to meet Jacob it wasn't out of love. Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed. Pastor Richard teaches that Jacob knew he could never rule over Esau by force, but rather by virtue of moral superiority. Torah Portion "'ויצא/Vayetze" which means "And he went out" delivered on November 13, 2021. This week's portion covers Genesis/Beresheet 28:10-32:2 and begins, “And Ya‛aqoḇ went out from Be’ĕrsheḇa and went toward Ḥaran." In this week's Torah portion, Pastor Richard teaches about Jacob and what happens when he leaves the promised land and goes to find a bride. Jacob is going to the land which Abraham had left, the land of Haran. He finds there a land filled with idolatry, but Jacob remains true to HaShem. Jacob is also fleeing from Esau, who is trying to kill him, but Jacob is headed in to the "exile" to find a bride, and to bring her back to the promised land. Torah Portion "'תולדת/Toldot" which means "Generations" delivered on November 6, 2021.This week's portion covers Genesis/Beresheet 25:19-28:9 and begins, “And this is the genealogy of Yitsḥaq, Aḇraham’s son. Aḇraham brought forth Yitsḥaq."This week Pastor Richard shows us the two nations that are born through Rebecca and Isaac, Esau and Jacob. Rebecca was born in the nations and Isaac was born through the heritage of Abraham. The birth of these boys represents the evil of the nations (Esau) and the faith (Jacob) through HaShem. We give birth to goals, faith, endeavors, and desires, but is the outcome good or evil? Two foundations were formed in Rebecca's womb and we need to control them both. Pastor Richard teaches about the purpose of Esau. Rebecca and Isaac, as parents, were to educate both boys to one great goal, the unique way of HaShem and then to harvest the gifts to serve in his Kingdom. Torah Portion "'וירא/Vayera" which means "And I Appeared" delivered on October 23, 2021.This week's portion covers Genesis/Beresheet 18:1-22:24 and begins, “And יהוה appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamrĕ, while he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day."In this week’s portion, Pastor Richard teaches on the results of the binding of Isaac. Abraham was called by HaShem to “Lech Lecha” which was a total and complete removal from himself, and this week Pastor Richard tells us why. He teaches that Abraham stood up to the worldly influences in order to honor HaShem, and we learn to focus on the walk of Abraham and leave our identity behind. Pastor Richard shows the connection between Mt. Moriah, Isaac, the Messiah and the going forth of Torah. There is also a connection between Mt Moriah and being born-again, taking us to John 3:3.Isaac was the one thing that Abraham loved the most in this world, but Abraham offered him on the altar at the command of HaShem. He was tested, for HaShem to know if he feared Him. Tests and trials in this world help to build our character and our faith.
