Mixed worship causes confusion. God is forgiving them and continuing with His Plan. (God has been renewing His Covenant since the fall of Adam. Bezalel means “In the Image of Hashem.”  To mimic His Will is to be in the image of God. This young man received the blueprints from Moshe and contemplated them prior to beginning the work due to the great responsibility given to him by the Redeemer of Israel. He was able to accomplish his work according to the vision he was accountable for. One of the key character traits needed was to see himself as worthy of the task. He also honored the other workers in their tasks. "The Children of Israel were unable to bear the presence of Hashem when He visited them and after receiving the Ten Words (The Ten Commandments), they told Moshe to get The Torah for them. (“What He says, we will do.”) Moshe appointed Aaron and Hur and the seventy elders to rule the camp while he was away. In their impatience during Moshe’s absence, they decided he must have perished. What caused them to have Aaron build the Golden Calf so soon after receiving The Ten Commandments? Why did Aaron avoid punishment for this? What does the Golden Calf represent in our time? From everyone whose heart moves him you shall take up My contribution.' "The focus from this parasha about building the sanctuary is from Exodus 25:1-9. Ro’ehRichard asks the question “What are we gaining by building the sanctuary (which later became the temple)?” and “How will our actions affect the coming of Messiah?” Ro’eh Richard shows how giving our Terumah is actually giving to Messiah. Ro’eh Richard also shows us Terumah through Mussar (character building). “What will we glean inour character?” We see that the translation for Terumah is “contribution” or “donation,” but he dives deeper to show the meaning of the word and see the Messiah revealed here. An important KEY: Understanding that ALL the earth and the fullness of it belongs to the LORD (Psalm 24:1) If it all belongs to HIM how can we give HIM anything? Let’s see….This week our Haftorah teaching is delivered by Brother Mark from 1 Kings 5:12-6:13, and the New Covenant E-drash is delivered by Ro'ah Alpha from Hebrews 8:1-13.We hope and pray that you find blessing in our teachings. These leaders now needed to be trained in the more complex civil laws so they would understand them fully and be able to judge with wisdom. The scriptures were written to a people of a different time and culture than us and therefore a simple reading of them can be misleading unless we are taught the nuances of the ancient culture it was written to before applying them to current times and cultures. This week's portion covers Exodus/Shemot 18:1-20:26 and begins, “And Yithro, the priest of Miḏyan, Mosheh’s father-in-law, heard of all that Elohim had done for Mosheh and for Yisra’ĕl His people, that Hashem had brought Yisra’ĕl out of Mitsrayim." This week Pastor Cortes teaches us that Yitro (Jethro) converted to the Jewish before he gave him the advice to share the load with other righteous leaders of the assembly in order to ease the burden that Moshe had taken onto himself, and which would lead to a further peace with the people. Pastor Richard describes what characteristics a person would need to be a leader within the faith and the responsibilities those leaders have. He also warns us to beware of a rebellious attitude (in ourselves and our associates) toward leaders and God. Exodus 10:21 reads, "Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand toward the heavens, so that darkness may come over the land of Egypt, a darkness which [is so awful that it] may be felt.'" Pastor Richard answers the question of where the darkness was derived and how there was still light in Goshen for the Israelites.
