Jesus’ answer does not respond to the question, “How is it you will reveal yourself TO us,” but “how he will reveal himself IN us.” We are becoming the Body of Christ.

Notice, Jesus forgot to mention God. He didn’t say “Love God” and “Love your neighbor.” The new commandment is: “Love another just as I have loved you.”

The risen Christ that the disciples encounter is simultaneously dead and alive. The risen Lord is thus always the crucified-and-risen Lord.
