In episode 008, Simon talks to Daniel. Daniel Loftus is from the small coastal town Newport, Co. Mayo on the west coast of Ireland and currently lives in Dublin.After university Daniel spend a number of years working as a software developer and data scientist.  He co-founded his first software start-up in the live entertainment space, which flopped.

Between that and pivoting UrbanFox he developed high frequency trading algorithms and worked as a data science consultant.  After a chance introduction to a founder who had gone from idea to a multi-billion dollar exit in the fraud and KYC space, Daniel became fascinated with the networks and techniques professional fraudster’s use and pivoted UrbanFox to fraud detection and prevention.

In early 2020 he was featured in the Irish Independent’s 30 Under 30 List and also in the Sunday Business Post’s 100 Hottest Startups.  UrbanFox was also accepted onto Barclay’s Accelerator powered by Techstar’s in London.

He is an avid scuba diver and has been diving since he was 13.

In episode 007, Simon talks to William Bao Bean. William is a General Partner at SOSV - The Accelerator VC - the #2 most active angel and seed stage investor in the world 2019 with US$700m under management. At SOSV he is the Managing Director of Chinaccelerator the first accelerator to launch in Asia and the only accelerator in Asia to have a unicorn come through its program – Bitmex the #1 crypto exchange in the world by trading volume enabling anyone with a smartphone to access financial products and opening up investment to the unbanked. He is also Founder and Managing Director of MOX - the Mobile Only Accelerator - providing startups with free user acquisition to the 70m smartphone users on the platform. 

William joined SOSV from SingTel Innov8 Ventures where he was a founding Managing Director supporting China investments. Prior to that William was a Partner at Softbank China & India Holdings, a venture capital firm backed by Softbank and Cisco, leading investments in China and South East Asia. Previously, William spent 11 years as an equity research analyst most recently with Deutsche Bank where he was a top ranked analyst for Asia Internet and China Tech, Media and Telecom and worked on IPOs for Alibaba, Kingsoft and eLong (Expedia China).

In Episode 006, Simon talks to Joe Wong & Kenneth Kwok. Joe Wong has over 20-years of professional and start-up experiences panning investment banking, e-commerce, logistics, fintech and information technology and has successfully advised on and executed business strategies for start-ups to multi-nationals spanning a wide range of industries including finance, technology, shipping & logistics, manufacturing, e-commerce, airlines, gaming, energy, as well as governments and the public sector. In his professional career, Joe has spent around 15 years in Investment Banking and Finance spanning corporate finance, sales and trading, private wealth, and institutional banking.For the last 5 years, he has worked on developing his own e-commerce solution based business (Go Logistics& Storage-GOLS) in Hong Kong focused on servicing corporates and e-commerce platforms globally manage their distribution and fulfilment processes.  

Kenneth Kwok is the Founder and CEO of Global Citizen Capital, an impact-oriented healthcare, biotech, logistics, technology and education focused multi-family office investment venture based out of Hong Kong. Kenneth has worked 15 years in the finance industry, serving as the CIO to a large Chinese listed conglomerate as well as a financial professional at UBS AG and Deutsche Bank in the investment banking and equities divisions, mostly in the ECM, Greater China Coverage and Corporate Finance teams. He has a cum laude dual degree from University of Pennsylvania and The Wharton School of Business, speaks fluent English, Mandarin, Cantonese and conversational French. He has lived in Hong Kong, Taipei, Beijing, Tokyo, Vancouver, Philadelphia, New York and London.

In Episode 005, Simon talks to Kingsley Abrokwah. He is an entrepreneur with a passion for innovation, carved out of a need to excel and make an impact. He’s been actively involved in the technology space for over the past 11 years, working with great teams and incredible professionals across various industry verticals.  His niche is in developing marketing strategies, and creating impact oriented brands, thereby contributing his quota to the business, and social landscape he finds himself. Software development is his cradle, has been privileged to learn, and work alongside the best brains in software development and startup super stars.  Kingsley believes in mentorship, and in building businesses focused on institutions, and not on personalities. His goal is to build as many businesses as possible, and to watch them grow with the penchant to impact society with love and positivity. His current business KudiGO epitomises how technology can impact Africa if developed within an African context for an Africa audience and with African resources.

In Episode 004, Simon talks to Hedi & Kalle. Hedi is the company’s CEO, is a business leader with more than 15 years of international management experience in banking, IT, communication and marketing and information management. Most of her career Hedi has worked internationally and led teams in Europe and Scandinavia. Her passion is data & person-centric approach in designing services that people use on a daily basis. She has worked with and consulted many other start-ups and is passionate about educating society on how to be smarter and benefit more from their data. In May, Hedi was named by Sifted as a Female founder to watch in 2020.  

 Kalle, was the youngest elected member of the Estonian Parliament, being elected when he was 21 and having spent more than 12 years in the Estonian Parliament. He has served as a Chairman of the European Union Affairs Committee, Vice-Chair of the Environment Committee and a member of the Economic Committee. While being a member of the Estonian Parliament, he was active in advancing innovation and green energy legislation as well as regulatory frameworks for the development of the digital and gig-economy, where he was advocating and developing a law that regulates ride-hailing companies like Uber and Bolt to operate in Estonia.

In episode 003, Simon talks to Jennifer Tam. She is an experienced brand strategist who worked with diverse clientele from SMEs to listed companies in both local and international market. She is now working at Chicks – a 67 years old Hong Kong apparel brand specialises in quality inner-wear for all ages.  As the 4th generation, she is continuing the brand’s legacy as well as enhancing all touch points from supply chain to brand experience for people who share the same believes - The best for the family.

In episode 002, Simon talks to Andy Chaleff.  Andy is an American author born in Burbank, California. In 1990, Chaleff left the U.S. to escape the pain of his mother's death, who was killed by a drunk driver when he was 18-years-old. In 2018 Chaleff came out with his first book, "The Last Letter," which won several awards and was noted by Kirkus Reviews: "It's rare that a book succeeds at relating such an intimate, personal story while also clearly discussing psychological topics, such as projection, self-destruction, addiction, self-acceptance, and vulnerability." In his book, he chronicles his journey of healing after his mother's death and invites readers to write a "last letter" to someone special in their lives. The book gets its name from a letter that Chaleff wrote his mother that she received hours before her death. The book and his subsequent 3-month tour of the U.S. was covered widely in the news and media. In 2020, Chaleff released "The Wounded Healer," which is the story of his 3-month journey through the U.S. with a specific focus on uncovering radical self love. In this book he asks people to name the thing that is hardest to say and follow it with the stem "...and it's fu*king great!" He pays special attention to archetypes that are easy to relate with, from the perfectionist to the victimised. Chaleff is currently the Director of the Amsterdam's Welvaren training center and mentor and advisor to several non-profits, paying special attention to education and parenting.
