Serving as the Leader of the Opposition for the Tories from 1943 to 1945, he did not serve as the leader of the party during that time. Known for his dislike of long speeches, bipartisanship, his big smile and gregarious personality.

Serving from 1940 to 1943, Richard Hanson only led the Conservative Party for a brief time, but he served as the Leader of the Opposition for three years. Respected in the House of Commons for his quick wit, he also spent upwards of 20 years as a Parliamentarian.

After spending 17 years as a Liberal, Hugh Guthrie would switch to the Conservatives over the Conscription Issue. Within a decade, he was leading the party. His time as leader was short, but his time as Minister of Justice would see him preside over some of the darkest moments for Canada during The Great Depression.

In between the decades-long leaderships of Sir Wilfrid Laurier and William Lyon Mackenzie King, there is Daniel Duncan McKenzie, who served for only a few months in between in 1919. While his time was short, he was the bridge between these leaders. As well, from the municipal, to the provincial, to the federal levels, he never once lost an election.
