In this episode, we discuss some of the things we think we are doing to help our bodies heal, but in fact, we are making things worse. For anyone suffering from complex PTSD, trauma, or very high levels of stress, the body needs rest to calm the nervous system. We need to reduce the levels of cortisol in the body and not add to it. By doing activities like high intensity workouts or ice baths, we are building more adrenaline, which produces cortisol, and it can spike our levels, causing huge stress to the body. These are things I was shocked that I was never told!
